- How power sounds and speaks: amended and added an example on "questions" based on a post from "selffriend". I realized some people struggle to understand when and how asking or answering is dominant or submissive. This new amended version helps to understand the power dynamics of asking and answering.

Quote from Matthew Whitewood on April 8, 2021, 4:35 amIt seems that it is good to think about how a question or statement frames you or the other party as the party in terms of power.
Looks interesting to tie with self-frames.I think the difficulty of understanding whether asking a question is high power arises when one focuses on the words too much.
I had this trouble when I was thinking whether "I am happy that ..." is a judge move or low power. My example was in the context of
- I am happy that you were paying attention to my joining.
- I am glad that you are following my work.
Maybe this can be seen in your example of someone approaching the head of legal:
- (junior legal counsel approaching head of legal) Could you advise me on this clause?
- What it means here is
"I am not sure how to approach this. Could you advise me as my superior?"- Seeking advice on your tasks from someone more experienced
- The head of legal may ask back a question "What do you think?" or "Walk me through the situation.".
- (CEO approaching head of legal) Could you advise me on this clause?
- What it means here is
"Please think through this and get back to me. I will make the final decision."- Delegating by a leader to an expert
- The head of legal will probably give a very direct answer to get to the point.

Quote from Matthew Whitewood on May 25, 2021, 5:57 pmHandling Jesters Quiz
Has this quiz been removed some time ago?
Focus Point: Defending Your Authority Against JestersI was looking for resources on how to handle jesters, and this came up through the search.
Quizzes in Power University
There seems to be an upgrade, and the quiz has a different user interface.
The quizzes in Power University seem to stop showing the explanations and which questions I got right or wrong.
Previous Font Size Combinations Were More Elegant
I think the previous combinations of font sizes for titles and normal text were more elegant.
The normal text seems a bit small now.
I can zoom in but it doesn't look so good.

DISCARDED QUIZZES
Yes, some quizzes and lessons have been discarded, the exact ones should hopefully be all listed in the "updates" log.
The goal of the discarded lessons / quizzes is to increase the overall quality: if they were discarded, it's because I had considered them "not good enough" for PU.
FONTS + EXPLANATIONS
About the fonts, you're right.
And that was the last straw in the camel's back that made me decide to switch course provider.
I think I could hire a developer and fix the fonts in a second.
Maybe the course would be a bit more challenging and need to go through the course provider support, which is far from good or responsive. Vietnamese based, the bad English doesn't help -and you can sometimes see poor English in the course standard descriptions-.
So rather than keep on applying fixes here and there, I'd rather go for a course provider that delivers a product with fewer or no bugs at all, and a better overall experience.
So that's how I'm addressing this issue right now: providing a better overall course experience by fixing the root causes.
Thank you for the heads up, Matthew!

Maybe it requires a tweak in font size in the CSS.
For example,p {
font-size: 20px;
}It could be more challenging than that though since it's a course provider that you plug into your website.
Or maybe you don't want to focus on the technical nitty-gritty stuff as it can be distracting.Maybe the course would be a bit more challenging and need to go through the course provider support, which is far from good or responsive. That sounds like a pain.
Great customer service seems to be in short supply nowadays. So rather than keep on applying fixes here and there, I'd rather go for a course provider that delivers a product with fewer or no bugs at all, and a better overall experience.

It's interesting that there's no clear leader in the course provider space.
The fact that you are spending so much time debating on self-hosted solutions vs external providers.
Maybe it's hard to be a well-rounded course provider.

Quote from Ali Scarlett on June 13, 2021, 11:23 pmA new example of bad emotional vulnerability. The man has a lowered self-esteem due to prior events in the movie and, as a result, feels the need to be coddled and babied.
And, of course, the woman loses attraction for him because she was hoping for a fun time with a leader who's a catch, not a baby who's weak:

Quote from Ali Scarlett on June 13, 2021, 11:44 pmAnd, another example of the Madonna/whore dichotomy. More specifically, how a man's desire for a Madonna as a long-term mate is built on a desire for faithfulness.

Notice how Quentin (Terrence Howard) is shown aggression not only for his slight toward Lance (Morris Chestnut) about "sleeping with his girl if she were single since it's her right to sleep with other—even multiple—men", but also for his open-mindedness behind closed doors among friends.
That kind of progressive thinking—the idea that it's OK for a woman to be sexually active with many men—is what people tout to the public to play the Charmer and avoid ostracization (or to avoid appearing to side with extremists). So, when those open-minded frames are brought behind closed doors where good friends know that the double standards are still very real, he's scorned and attacked for it.

Quote from Matthew Whitewood on July 8, 2021, 2:38 pmIt looks like I have to scroll through the sales page when I access Power University.
My progress has been resetted.
Though that doesn't really matter to me.But the new course format seems to force me to complete the modules in order.
A more minor point is that Power University has been taken off the drop-down menu under Speed Learning.
I think it's important enough to be included in the drop-down menu.
