Zadehali Introduction
Quote from zadehali97 on April 1, 2023, 8:04 amHello all,
Going to be keeping this brief. I'm a 26 year old software developer from Seattle, Washington, interested in learning more about power dynamics, social dynamics, psychology, etc
I'm well off. Fit and athletic, with a well-paying job that I enjoy, and a great social circle. I've been extremely fortunate in my upbringing. That said, I feel like social awareness is one of the areas of my life that I'm most lacking in, and have the most potential to improve.
I'm not sure how much I'm going to be using these forums going forward, but I'll start here and see where things go.

Glad to see you doing AND being aware, grateful, and enjoying it, which is quite a rare and great combo.
And I also liked this one a lot:

It's a seemingly little detail, but it makes a difference.
Many people tend to overstate how active they will be, and that can disempower from the start -ie.: "can't wait to add value", "looking forward to interacting with you all!"-.
One, because even if true, most people say so and few do it, so you get clumped with all the talkers until proven wrong -and even if you prove it wrong, the first impression would still not be positive-.
Two, even if you plan on posting a lot, you never know what can happen, and it undermines trust and credibility if you start with something that feels like a big promise, and then do not follow up -ie.: "typical case of giving when it's easy, with words, and then not following up with action" or "typical case of emotional gung-ho start, but without the staying power".
Three, this more honest approach is so high-power, honest, and straight.
Then, if you are active in the forum, it'll feel like "wow, how cool, in the end he did take part".
And if not and you'll just drop a message once in a while, you were straight from the beginning about it.
