Agree and amplify
Quote from Razor on August 22, 2022, 3:02 pmI've been hooking up with a girl for about 6 months. She really likes me but she has an avoidant attachment personality. We broke up a couple a times but she alway comes back to me. I don't mind because I like to see her now and then, and keep my eyes open for something better.
So she hesitates to do 'relationship' things, like going on holiday together or showing me to close friends or family.
So this weekend she held a garden party with all her close friends and family. She didn't invite me because she would feel uncomfortable because it would make it 'official' or whatever. Obviously I was a bit disappointed.
Would this have been a good response?
You're absolutely right. There is no reason for me to be part of your personal life. So no hard feelings, I completely agree with you.

I thought about it and I completely agree with you. I shouldn't want to be seen with you by your friends and family. So no hard feelings, we're on the same page.
This is basically agreeing and amplifying. If she would disagree with me and ask 'why don't you want to be seen with me?' She questions her own reasoning. I would then respond with 'Well, because of the same reasons you don't want to be seen with me...'
And even if she would agree with my response, she would be surprised. Becasue I do the opposite of what she expects me to do (begging an pleading). Basically this way I reject her as a 'relationship prospect' as well...
