An online magazine cited an article from The Power Moves
Quote from LorenzoE on January 27, 2022, 10:32 pmThe same market logic suffuses the manosphere fixation on “sexual market value” – and concludes that “West Elm Caleb did nothing wrong”. For in market terms, we’re all independent, rational adults; why shouldn’t a man treat women as human spittoons, should they make themselves available in this capacity?
I recently read an article titled "The cost of sexual liberation", the author of the article talked about "sexual market value" citing a site article on the subject.
What do you think, is good or bad advertising the same?
I hope this is the right place to discuss the topic, this is my first post on the forum.

Quote from Lucio Buffalmano on January 28, 2022, 9:00 amCiao Lorenzo, welcome to the forum!
In this specific case, I don't see it as either good or bad.
It's more like a random link and then indirectly frames the website as part of the manosphere -in part, true, in part not true as many women visit and transact with TPM as well-.
Actually, that made me curious and I had to pull it up.
Google Analytics says that it's close to 50/50 (46.x to 53.x):
And that's albeit we haven't published anything women-specific in quite some time.
Then there are some more negative implications that come from the rest of the article and if it were a major publication and/or if it were directly talking about TPM it might be worth talking about.
But as it stands, it's mostly inconsequential in either way.

Honestly, I'm glad the author of the article mentioned this site for two reasons:
1. The article in question (Sexual Market Value: A Practical Analysis) is very in-depth and those unfamiliar with the subject can get a clear idea about the topic.
2. Many sites or youtubers that talk about these issues often have resentments about women, this is definitely not your case.

I suppose it's easy to agree when someone builds you up, but... Yeah, I agree :D.
You're right, the sexual market value concept tends to be more popular in the manosphere / red pill.
And albeit there is little to object against the concept itself, I had the same feeling as you. Most anyone in that circle would deny anger or resentment and say they simply describe reality, but it feels like a cover-up and self-denial to me and there is plenty of resentment.
The same is true for the thought leaders, by the way, they sometimes pass the blame for the anger and resentment on the followers or say that the information itself leads to anger and/or that it's just a phase, but it's another big cover and cop-out to me.
Thank you Lorenzo!
