Asshole customers are not welcome here (case study)

In "values-based business" I explained a bit what are the values behind this website and business.

I said that The Power Moves is not operating to maximize revenues and income.

The Power Moves is a values-based business, and albeit revenue is obviously important -or the business couldn't exist in the first place- many of those values take precedence over revenues.

A big part of living an empowered life, to me, means this: being able to overpower, reject, say no or walk away from anyone who does not fit your system of values.
My system of values demands a basic amount of respect for others.

And when that respect is lacking, then I don't want to have anything to do with you.

As in this case:

email abusive customer

It's not one of those abusive cases you see on YouTube of people yelling at the top of their lungs and hurling insults at the face of some poor customer rep.

Yet, it's rude.

Let's quick analyze this message:

1. Implied Threat

See what the format is actually like:

Do this for me... Or else

That's the threat format.
It implies the power is all on her side and I can only comply -and I better do-, or else I must face the penalty.

2. Master / Servant Frame

Notice also this part:

Do X for me

Which is the way you'd treat, who?

A servant, a slave or someone you're playing S&M with.

3. Implies The Untrustworthiness of The Receiver

And finally, that attitude often flows from the mindset that you must flex your muscles to get what's yours.

Which, in turn, implies that the receiver is an untrustworthy entity hell bent in cheating those who are "too nice" to flex.

This is offensive for the receiver if the receiver prides itself on being an honest business who keeps his word.

Assholes Need No to Apply

That attitude and that way of relating to others is exactly what The Power Moves was born to combat.

One of the goals of this website is to help train and shape what I call "enlightened leaders".

Enlightened leaders are high-quality individuals who know how to be bad but, overall, operate in a way that adds value to other people's lives.
Enlightened leaders do not tolerate people who deal with others in a way that demeans them.

That's why The Power Moves teaches strategies and techniques for standing up against as disparate people as the local bully, the abusive spouse, the terrible manager or, sometimes, it might also the bad customer.
All these different type of people have one thing in common: they approach others in a way that demeans them.

There is really no point in approaching anyone like the above customer approached me.

The Power Moves loves its customers. They're not just kings and queens, but kindred souls.
But NOT when they are abusive.

The Power Moves does not tolerate bullying, of any kind.
Not for one second, I thought of fixing the issue. Because I don't want that type of customers.

To make it simple:

I do not want assholes on this website.
I don't want assholes to consume the products.
And least of all I want assholes as customers.

Here is my reply:

answering to an abusive customer

$15 to get rid of a bad apple? Count me in!

I am not saying that this a smart way to operate.

And I'm not saying that anyone should do the same.

But this is how The Power Moves operate.
