Avoid political traps by flying higher: Jacinda Ardern VS Maori
Quote from Lucio Buffalmano on February 11, 2021, 1:32 amI was scanning this article on the latest "identity issue".
BACKGROUND
Apparently, a Māori lawmaker in New Zlenad was kicked out of parliament because he refused to wear a tie which, in his opinion, was a tool and a sign of "Western subjugation".
Forcing people to wear a tie is small -very small- act of coercion, and shouldn't exist in any democracy.
And the Maori guy is probably a bit too deep in his self-righteous sense of belonging, forgetting that the science and civilization that came with the West has improved almost anyone's life, and that it's not necessarily a "us VS them".RISKS
Anyway, this is the typical case that, in this day and age, could explore on a politician's face.
Defend the tie, and you're white-privileged scumbag holding to your colonial right.
Defend the Maori, and you're a virtue-signaler pansy.
SOLUTION: STAY NON-COMMITTAL, GO HIGHER
So this was the minister's answer:
Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said that it was not something she had a strong opinion on (remain non-committal, avoid taking sides), and that she had no objection to someone wearing a tie in parliament or not. "There are much more important issues for all of us," Ardern said (go higher).
Simple, yet genius.
Very good social strategy.
