Biz idea: an exchange to fund & run research

I was thinking:

TPM may be interested in funding some research.

I may not have the time to do it myself, but I could talk to some academic researchers about the hypothesis, how we could structure the experiment, and he could then set it up and run it.

TPM gains with the results, the marketing of publishing research, and the researcher gains with funding and a published research.

So I looked it up, to see if cost-wise it was even possible, or if something similar existed.

And if something similar exists, it's as if it didn't exist looking at Google:

The top results are all for finding, not for providing.

The problem with that approach is that it's disempowering and ineffective for both:

  1. The funder must find someone who wants to do something similar to what he's interested in
  2. The researcher must chase funds and grants

An exchange instead could have both parties publish what they're interested in, ask for some basic input (ie.: how reliable you want it, how many people to take part, etc.), provide estimates for the costs, and match offer and demand to each other (or, probably more likely, the funder may have more power and receive the bids, but both options are good and faster for both).

Have you thought about trying search terms like "academic research service providers" or "academic researcher for hire"?

Some sights like QuestionPro seem interesting, but they might not align with what you're looking for:

Or, maybe you can collaborate with independent scientists, researchers, and academics somehow:

At the very least, you might be able to shoot one of these independent freelancers a message, give them an idea of the scale of research you're looking to achieve, and then get their feedback on the best way forward (maybe even some recommendations).

Only some ideas.

More ideas on this, this time from ChatGPT:

Ali: "Where can I find academic researchers available for hire?"

ChatGPT: "There are several ways to find academic researchers available for hire:

University websites: Many universities have directories of their faculty members, including their research interests and areas of expertise. You can search these directories to find researchers in your field and reach out to them to discuss potential collaborations or consulting opportunities.

Research networks: There are several online research networks that connect researchers with potential clients or collaborators. Examples include ResearchGate, Academia.edu, and LinkedIn.

Research consulting firms: There are several consulting firms that specialize in providing research and analysis services to clients. These firms typically employ a team of academic researchers and subject matter experts. Examples include McKinsey & Company and Boston Consulting Group.

Freelance platforms: There are several freelance platforms that connect clients with academic researchers who offer their services on a freelance basis. Examples include Upwork and Freelancer.

Professional organizations: Many professional organizations in different fields have directories of their members that can be used to find researchers available for hire. These organizations may also host conferences and events that provide opportunities to network with researchers and learn about their work."
