Cute nicknames in relationship: the bubble
Hello TPM community,
My GF is looking for a cute nickname for me. That is, a name that she would be the only one to use: the name in our bubble.
- My John: I said I prefer not but I'm getting used to it and it's good.
- My heart (mon coeur en français, quite common)
She insists on finding one. I find the first one better as I feel that the second one is cuter but it's a bit babying.
I'd like to know if you think that it's cute and fine in a couple (and therefore reciprocation to avoid imbalance) or that it's too babying and just stick to "My John". Or not use one at all (but she insists).
I'm curious about your opinion regarding that situation.

I like nicknames as long as it’s genuine. I don’t find my heart, my love, or ma chérie disempowering or babying.
It is really up to you to choose what you are comfortable with. but not having any kind of nickname in a serious relationship would feel weird to me, kind of low warmth and distant.

Thank you very much Jack!
It's much helpful and makes sense to me. Before writing this thread I thought about "my love" that I would like as a nickname ("mon amour" in French as you know).

Smart girl, I think it's a technique in Seduction University :).
(Not saying of course she's doing it consciously and/or for the benefits of course, it's actually a positive thing to want to do).
I'd just say "you pick whatever you like" and then ask her to change if you don't like it.
