Quote from Lucio Buffalmano on July 9, 2023, 10:49 amThese are some really deep and insightful reflections, DGX37.
My biased POV is that PU also teaches you to plenty to empower yourself (the gaps don't negate all the rest that many do absorb and internalize right away).
But what you say that the awareness in itself is what lays the groundwork that allows your own self-development is also true -and something I hadn't thought of, so this was an enlightening insight, thank you-.
That's where the forum also makes a difference: the people on the forum, on average, work more on their life to transform that awareness into skills, goal achievements, and results (and that was also reflected in the survey).
As for the distribution of submissives VS power moving assholes VS eagles, you may have a point.
But I think that it may get a bit better as you deal with more adults because:
- Young men status-seeking relies heavily on power moves and one-ups (a bit less so, or less obviously, among adults)
- Some people learn and develop over time, and very few are "born" with eagle-like traits

Makes a lot of sense. I am already in the world of adults yet I still am just starting out, so the image of school still lingers in my mind and will for some time longer I bet ( especially because schoolmates are also in the job, and they didn't change much ).
And it's true that in adults, they won't disempower you outright, yet it still seems like small power moves are commonplace and ways to disempower someone without them noticing is readily used. Other adults that were there throughtout my life don't seem better too.Quote from Lucio Buffalmano on July 9, 2023, 10:49 amMy biased POV is that PU also teaches you to plenty to empower yourself (the gaps don't negate all the rest that many do absorb and internalize right away).
I know what you mean. I said as if knowledge from PU doesn't matter much but it matters greatly. What I wanted to say is that awareness is what makes the cross from knowledge to actual power in how you act. For example there were many things in PU that hit right on the spot yet I didn't have an idea how to apply them consistently but thanks to "awareness" they started to fit.
And what I said is also not true for general knowledge like the way you walk, you don't need awareness for it, you just do it and it gives you effects.

That really interests me. If most people are not born with eagle-like traits should an actual eagle still cooperate with them with their possible future in mind?
For example young coworker is an ahole, should you give him more chances and look for cooperation more because it's possible he will gain good traits in the future?
Not to let yourself be disempowered, but is there a difference in how should you distance from people with different ages but similar characters? ( For a nasty move from young person you take step back from them, from an older person you take two steps ).

( For a nasty move from young person you take step back from them, from an older person you take two steps ).In part this seem to overlap with ethics / what one wants his life to be like (ie.: only success for oneself, or also give and elevate others?).
And in part it's very situational:
You want to do that in case you're close, but not with everyone.
And in part it depends on the individual:
Some people have potential.
Some others are just rotten or just don't care of what's in it for you and/or win-win.Feel free to open a topic for this, it may yield really good insights.
