Frank Underwood Dominance Style
Quote from A_R on October 28, 2020, 10:21 amHi Lucio and other members.
I am curious to know the dominance style/styles employed by Frank Underwood in the tv show House of Cards is.
I'm thinking he combines physical dominance with charm since he often invades peoples personal space to convey coercive power but he can also be very charming and takes sincere interest in other people (although with duplicit intentions)
I would love to see your view on this.
Cheers

It's not the first time I hear that name, but I'm not familiar with it.
Feel free to share a clip for some quick analyses.

Thankyou for your reply!
Here is a great example of Underwood showcasing his dominant side (I couldn't find a video of his charming side)

Quote from Lucio Buffalmano on October 29, 2020, 11:37 pmEhehe love the first power move when he takes his glass away.
Small detail, but it served to remind of who was in power, as well as being the first rapport-breaking instance to signal that this wasn't a friendly meeting.I see some Godfather style as well, gives you the feeling he's been holding power and maneuvering people for a long time.
and a touch of icey style as well. The way he talks to people, gives the sense that he has no feelings and emotions.

Quote from A_R on October 30, 2020, 5:12 amVery cool. So he employs a combination of the Godfather + Icey dominance styles.
I never realized moving the glass was a rapport-breaker powermove, I find that very interesting. I also noticed he takes the judge role 'Drink up you could use the courage now.' Very powerful.
I highly recommend the show (especially 1st season) he does a lot more of these power moves and its very cool to see the way they aid him in his rise to power.
Thank you for the analysis Lucio.
