How an Eagle handles Luck in Victory: Justin Gaethje

Hello TPM community,

after a re-match where he first loss to Dustin Poirier, Justin Gaethje won the second match with an elite world-class faint with right hand followed by head kick from the right.

He talks about his victory (worth watching in its entirety, he talks about how learned from his first loss: learner mindset pearl):

Justin Gaethje: "Luck and chance are a factor in this cage. And I just thank God that I came on the right side this time."

Interpretation: He did not say: "I'm lucky". He said there is luck and it happened to be on my side. Very different.

For those following a bit MMA, you could see him improve 10x over his career, very impressive. From sloppy and brutal to precise, astute and controlled (and keeping the power).

Here again:

Justin Gaethje: luck and chance are a factor and I'm willing to roll the dice every fucking day.

Interpretation: "training over and over increase your odd through sheer repetition." Again does not say: "I'm lucky".

Here again:

Justin Gaethje: Maybe call it luck. I'm down with it.

Interpretation: "I'm an effective man. If luck helps me win, I welcome it and accept it. I care only about results (knowing he's already an eagle, during the fight, lots of respects towards Poirier, so he can be ruthless within his high-quality behavioural boundaries)." Also notice the "Maybe" which sub-communicates: "maybe not maybe it's just that I'm the better fighter". Self-power protection.

McGregor: Justin, I'll slap you around.

Here we can see McGregor trying to take some visibility and social climbing on Gaethje (Twitter/X message in the lower left). Very petty. Even more now that we know how he ended up. That he is not fighting anymore. Just alpha posturing. Weak.
