How to gauge your own power /is there a power "batting average"
Quote from Social_Strategist#1 on July 30, 2020, 1:09 amAs I read and study power dynamics and apply what I lean in my own life, I get really mad at myself if I "lose" even a bit of power in any interaction.
But I also notice that many of the video examples provided in Power Moves show extremely powerful and wealthy individuals like Trump making mistakes and/or losing in an interaction.
So if even Trump "loses" some of the time, to me that's a a pretty clear indication that no one can be completely powerful and dominant and "win" every interaction 100% of the time.
It reminds me of what's often said about batting averages in baseball: No one bats a thousand. Â If a pro baseball player managed to hit the ball just 40% of the time for a full season, he would be one of the greatest batters of all time.
I suspect that something very similar is true when it comes to power dynamics.
Am I right, or do I need to keep beating myself up each and every time that I do not come out on top in an interaction because a true power player always wins?

Have you read Ultimate Power already?
Ultimate Power tackles the first part of you question. And do you remember the part where in the course where I say "using as litle power as possible"?
That tackles the second part.Going around with the idea you need to "win" and dominate people is the highway ticket to what I call in a post "power dickhead-dom", which is exactly what Trump does.
Also read the entries in the power dicionary:
- Less power is more power
- Self-agency principle
- Power through
