Ideas on expanding social calibration
Quote from Ella on July 25, 2022, 11:44 amHi guys,
Ella here. Loving all your content so far. I'm working on Power University, and hopefully become cool like you guys someday. 😎
Just some thoughts from PU's social calibration:
I think in many ways, while calibration is quite similar to imitation, differs in its intent to consciously control and redirect. There is obviously a lot of potential in shaping relationships with adjustment to purposes, or different spins on its definition (emphasis on different parts of definition - I separated them into three parts).
This set off some quick brainstorming of horizontal expansions to the equivalent equation in my head (shown below as I understand it).
In PU:
social calibration = purpose (constant towards collaborative relationships) + control (power and warmth) + strategic response (assess with power traffic light theory and move along the scale of aggression)
And I elaborated a bit:
social calibration = purpose (ongoing adaptation to your character and context assessment/priority as well as how you feel or want it to be) + control (conversation topics, information leverage you may want strategically, degree of the person's attention you want to hold) + strategic response (same assessment combined with your purpose to act)
What do you think?

Calibration is sometimes similar to imitation indeed, but I wouldn't say they're very similar -unless you're referring to being a "social chameleon" and adapting, in which case there is more overlap.
That aside, your equation seems pretty solid to me.
P.S.:
You were an early joiner I think, the "empowered remember" badge wasn't there yet, so I added it now.
And if you want to make a proper into in the intro section, you're more than welcome (up to you).
