Is Tony "Scarface" Montana right?
Quote from John Freeman on January 3, 2021, 9:51 amHello guys,
I know it's a movie, I want to talk about the idea:

I don't agree. He's missing a step: Skills.
- Learn Skills
- Money/Power
- Be a more attractive mate
That's why:

Why do we watch James Bond? Skills. What does Rick Sanchez have? Skills. Why are we on this forum and doing PU? To learn skills.
Skills are all that matters because they allow you to do things you could not do before. Which is one of the definitions of Power.
Regarding women: after listening to books about evolutionary psychology. I found out that the equivalent of big tits, big ass and big lips (signs of fertility) in a man is the ability to acquire and keep resources (we could talk about male's body features but that's not my point). Because the evolutionary role of man is to provide resources while the woman is rearing the child. It's not being sexist, it's the natural state of things. Men don't have uteruses nor lactating devices, end of argument. However, we can adapt and one of the adaptation mechanism is parental investment. It does not have to be the woman who takes care of the child most of the time. Once the child can be bottle-fed, then the man could take of him. This is a short tangent to see how we can deal with (semi-) equal parental investments together with biology.
My point is that: women are not as complicated as we think. Our culture has just messed up so much with our head that we're not able anymore to recognize the natural state of things, thanks to propaganda and technology. Technology is good, we just must not let ourselves be confused by it.
So, my point is : I think Tony Montana is right. If you don't show an ability to acquire and keep resources you are way less attractive than if you can demonstrate it. However, to acquire money and power, you need skills. Skills will open all the doors for us. Just as social skills are doing it right now.

Quote from Transitioned on January 4, 2021, 1:06 amOn the evolutionary biology point I agree. And I think it explains a lot of the covert aggression we often see in women in the workplace. Not saying its only women BTW. Saying that their nature and nurture makes them expert in social dynamics and like anyone they'll use what's easy and effective for them.
They're also extremely motivated in that sphere. It's the old evolutionary biology theory: women were less likely to survive if expelled from the group so improving their social position is literally life and death in their mind.  This of course gives them a lot of collaboration and alliance building skills - the renegotiating towards a collaborative frame which IMO is the key skill to develop in the modern world.

Quote from Lucio Buffalmano on January 4, 2021, 5:58 pmI like that line from Scarface (and also added that video to TPM channel).
And I also agree that skills are crucial.
I would never want to be Tony Montana -or any high power, low dating skill guy- though, it's because of his lack of skills and dating power dynamics knowledge that he ended up being a semi-muppet in his relationship (still a movie we're talking about, but it's realistic).
Indeed, in reality, the same goes for Elon Musk and even Mike Tyson (both analyzed in TPM channel). That being said, I think Montana there is more right than most would give him credit for.
Take a very powerful man with low skills and a very skilled man with low power, and the powerful man dates higher quality women than the highly skilled man.

Quote from Stef on January 5, 2021, 3:01 amI think the point is that power acquisition and power holding can be considered skills per se, so in that sense if you are highly skilled in those spheres with some time and luck you should end being high in power and a long lived king (keep power for long).
Yet you can still fail so skill would be a promise, more valued in younger men, older men are expected to already have power consolidated and resources accumulated.

True.
How I answered that was more like "dating / interpersonal skills VS power".
Which, in turn, also means "power dynamics awareness".The examples I had in mind were low interpersonal skills / high power, and low power / high interpersonal skills.
So take Elon Musk, with (very) low interpersonal skills and high power, he can still date any attractive woman he wants, far more easily and reliably than any high interpersonal skill guy with low power.
BUT, he risks ending up abused / manipulated, power-down in his relationship, which is exactly what happened.Same for Tyson, who was also physically exceptional on top of being high power. He could also date anyone, far more easily than any super-skilled guy, and yet still ended up being abused / manipulated, power-down in his relationship (going to release a video on that case soon, BTW).
