Macron's strategies VS Trump: from aggression to submission, now trying assertion
Quote from Lucio Buffalmano on December 13, 2019, 10:27 amI just got asked on YouTube what's going on between Macron and Trump.
And that's a very interesting situation there.
Most mainstream political commentators show all their lack of real-world understanding when they talk about "bromance showing cracks".
There was never bromance.
Let's quickl review what happened:Macron tries to overpower trump: fails terribly
Macron when he first came into office tried to strong-hand Trump, show who's bussy and bully him into more respect towards Europe, the environment, and dropping his inflamatory rhetoric towards NATO's allies
That was Macron swerving at the NATO summit and greeting Trump last, then overpowering Trump with the handshake and angry look and then even telling the press that "his handshake was not innocent".

Terrible strategy.
I think that his victory got to his head when he first started off.
You don't bully an old vengeful lion who's more powerful than you are: Trump would have done anything to squash him.Probably Trump didn't take the US out of the Paris agreement just to spite Macron, but it might have contributed. And for sure he was happy to piss Macron off.
Macron tries to undermine Trump: fails again
After Trump removed the US from Paris agreement, Macron made his bonehead appeal to "American voters".
He was going beyond a democratically elected president as if he was talking to an occupied nation that is awaiting liberation.
It felt like Macron wanted to be their savior against the grinch.Look at this idiot, addressing Americans "to all our American friends" and "to all responsible Americans":

There is a non-written agreement amongst companies that you don't try to poach each other employees.
And Macron there was trying to poach American's brain power. That sure as hell made Trump mad.
And probably even some other top American officials at that point: acting like France is this big power standing for world's good against the evil US empire certainly won't help to win any friends.Trump hits back: the longest handshake ever
So when they met in Paris, Macron was in revenge mode.
Enter, the "longest handshake ever".

Then Trump took the piss out of Macron with the press saying that "Macron is a good guy, but he just loves holding his hand so much".
That was revenge for Macron's first power handshake.Macron tries appeasement, Trump answers making him his bitch
Next up was Macron visiting the White House, with Trump still in revenge mode.
I don't think ever in modern politics anyone went out of his way to humiliate another top head of state, and Trump truly made Macron his bitch.
That overlapped with Macron's change of strategy, going from aggression to submission and hoping to win back Trump's favor with submission.
Bad timing.
Plus bad strategy: the Trump types are out to take and dominate, they will walk all over you if you let them.https://youtu.be/my-4UIH4uRA?t=282s
Vengeance was served.
Macron now seeks assertiveness
Macron never liked Trump.
So he's now back opposing him.
He realized he can't overpower Trump, but he won't go anywhere with submission either. So now he's trying a more assertive approach.
Still not the best strategy, but a huge step forward from his initial aggression -which anyway was the most boneheaded move I've seen in modern politics-.
Macron: same boneheaded mistake with Brazil's president
Do you remember the Amazonian forest fire?
Macron got into a spat with Brazilian's president as well.
Macron was acting again as if he were the leader of the free world, the only capable man around, the superhero having to intervene to save the day from all the other inept idiots.
That pissed off the Brazilian president, too.
And it's expectable: no driven and proud man would stand Macron's attitude.
Again, as it happened with Trump just to prove him wrong, the Brazilian president sends out a big fuck you in his direction and refused any help to stave off the fires. If Macron wants to have a positive impact on the world, he should truly learn the basics of influence and persuasion.
