Matthew Hussey advice makes women date low-value men

Matthew Hussey generally has good advice delivered with perfect marketing.

Sometimes though what he shares almost seems designed to get l0w-value men.

For example:

Him: let's say you're in a bar and you say could you hold my jacket for two seconds while I give these drinks to my friends I'm running out of hands here. Alright you then take your drinks, give it to your friends, you come back you take your jacket and you say "thank you so much you're a gentleman". How's your evening going anyway

Basically, the advice is to start with a huge tasking power move.

Here is how it would go with a high-power man who has options:

Her: could you hold my jacket for two seconds while I give these drinks to my friends I'm running out of hands here.
Him: what did you take me for, a coat hanger?

Or even briefer "yeah, no".

Or:

Him: Happy to help you. See that coat hanger over there? Exactly, you can walk there and hang it

Or a more humorous man:

Him: Sure, but how about you take the coat and instead leave the drinks to me (smiles)

Or turning the tables if he may be interested:

Him: Nice move, nice move (smiles). But you can talk to me without having to pull those games. My name is...

In brief:

No self-respecting man would ever fall for that.

If he does, that's her sign that he's clueless and naive and/or has no other options.

Thanks. Yeah definitely not the best approach after analysis.

It's also helpful to read how a high-power man would react.

I might say yes to her tasking if she is lower SMV, and I am interested in a one night stand.

but I would most likely say something like in your examples “ yeah, you don’t need that to come talk to me”

Yep, great point, there are situations when even if you see the game, it still makes sense to play along.

From her point of view, still a huge fail though since Matthew Hussey promotes his service as finding great men for relationships.

This is really interesting.

I found myself in a similar, though different, situation when getting to the elevator.

I was bringing a pizza back to my place, and the interaction went like this:

Her: (she was standing in front of the elevator) Oh thank you so much for the pizza!

Me: You're welcome... and it's 10 bucks :)

Her: What, are you making me pay?

Me: Yep.

She then basically said we could go eat the pizza at her place. But I was with Bella already.

I admit though that the case in Matthew Hussey's video would have been a bit more difficult to handle for me, as I would have been conflicted.

This is because so far I had the interpretation that a woman entrusting a stranger with a personal item was a big sign of attraction.

So, I would have wondered whether going along would have been still ok. Maybe, I would have gone along and tried to reempower later by asking for a drink for myself.

But when I read your line here, I can immediately see it makes infinitely more sense:

Yeah, the beauty of that line is that:

  1. You still move forward
  2. You lead, instead of her

Makes the world of difference, especially if you enter into a future relationship.

You enter in a future relationship with her orchestrating the while thing, she'll think of you as a naive idiot -and someone easy to manipulate, too-.

You enter in the relationship after you blow off her cover and lead, she'll think of you as a God and have the world of respect for you.

P.S.:
Hussey improved that story over time.
He's a bit like Tony Robbins and repeats the same things often, the first time I heard him say that it was without power protecting with the "2 seconds" and she was leaving him there for a longer time.

P.P.S.:
The biggest power move in that line isn't even "hold this", but it's the "you're such a gentleman".
It's a judge and babying power move, and very aggressive from a manipulation point of view.

Yeah I was watching Hussey in the past and wasn't too happy with his value-to-marketing fluff ratio after a while 😅.

For this specific case, I think it depends on the woman's tone. If she's flirty and she has a preset image of socialite/woman joker/entertainer it could be delivered well, but based on just plain text I wouldn't do it to a man I like since I imagine it would feel disrespectful.

Yes, true, if she does it with a cheeky tone it can work well.

It works better that way because the frame moves from "I'm assigning you a task and leading" to "I'm flirty, we're playing... And you seem like the kind of guy who gets it".

So it becomes more of a mutual dance, rather than her leading and tasking.
