Mindsets at work

Hello guys,

I want to share with you the new mindsets that I displayed on my door before leaving my place so I am reinforcing them:

Outwork everybody (Tom Bilyeu): This is a powerful mindset. It does not mean that you will check your work against someone else, which would be a competitive mindset. It's a reminder that you want to be the hardest worker at work. It's the idea that you give your best effort everyday.

Default: aggressive (Jocko Willink): this does not mean that you have aggression. It means that you go towards things, you are not in a passive mode where you wait. You go towards the tasks and the things to tackle instead of avoiding them.

Build relationships (Jocko Willink): relationships are everything for a social species such as ours. When you have a problem with someone it means you have a bad relationship with this person. Improve the relationship and you fix the problem. More allies less enemies. Jocko also says that the worst situation is to have an adversarial relationship with one's boss.

Set collaborative frames (Lucio Buffalmano): this is a key mindset that is talked a lot on the website and the forum, rightly so. Most of the time, the obstacle to a collaborative frame is our own ego.

Learn as much as you can: this is a reminder of the learner mindset. It's a reminder for me to take any and every opportunity to learn something.

Be professional: it's one of my key values. I am here to be of service and adding value within the rules and practices of my profession.

Become too good to be fucked with (Lucio Buffalmano): this is an extension of the "be so good they can't ignore you" (Cal Newport). It's more powerful in its wording and also is more about saying that craft mastery will give you social power. This can protect us from abuse.

Great stuff, John.

Thumbs up to all of them, they look like the type of mindsets that will carry you far.

One more note on "too good to be fucked with".
TGFW is similar to "so good they can't ignore you" indeed. One of the differences is that while the latter only focuses on results and output, TGFW also covers the political aspects. While you focus on results, you also strategize on how to present them well, how to carry yourself with confidence and power, how to show leadership qualities -instead of just task-related results-, and how to manage your reputation laterally, downward and, most of all, upward.
