"Minimum necessary force" principle for sales funnels

An interesting case of optimizable sales process:

Paraphrasing:

Me: I'd like to know if I can do X with a plan upgrade
Sales rep: no, you can... Let's have a call
Me: (while typing shirtless in front of a delicious bowl of yogurt/berries/etc.) ehmmm... No

This sales rep jumped straight to the high-investment solution.

But it was not necessary.
It failed to apply the principle of "minimum necessary force".

A call uses up their time and resources.

And even potentially turn off people who don't wanna have random calls.

I didn't need a call.
I didn't even need any links or resources since I trust myself to find my way around some basic settings.

All I needed was a "yes you can".

Just like a sales page has many calls to action, a sales process should include "faster exit points" to maximize ROI.
