Case study: Mr Jagger, the power of the jester taken to the limit.

Hello guys,

Some time ago I saw on youtube a famous spanish streamer doing well... really awkward and weird things. However here's the thing, it's precisely because of his unwavering confidence, and willingness to do whatever he wants that he has so many attention and followers. Not only that but I haven't seem him coming across as a tryhard, in fact he often uses his confidence and weirdness to exert social pressure.

Here's the guy in an event. (No he didn't remove that thing from his mouth in the whole event lol, and by the way even if you know spanish it's really hard to tell what he's saying) (key moments are 3:16, 3:30, and 0:30)

And here's him again using the power of the jester to control the frame in an interview: (0:46)

(Context: some people started saying that the guy had an affair with a celebrity that was married with another celebrity, it was something some people completely made up)

Journalist: Some time ago people said that you were having a relationship with this celebrity, how did you react to that?

Jagger: Hahaha, I was in my house playing videogames, (starts talking about stuff of that videogame for quite a while)

Journalist: so you didn't pay much attention to that.

Jagger: to what?

Journalist: to those people

Jagger: No.

Journalist: did you laugh?

Jagger: there were laughs in the internet and I started laughing too.

......

Jagger stares at the journalist. (1:18)

Journalist: you're freaking out aren't you?

Jagger: no questions then?

.....

What I find incredible about this is how he decided to mess with the guy instead of stating assertively that he wouldn't talk about some dumb thing some people made up. With this he comes across as funny, confident, and witty while the journalist well.... comes across as desperate to get an interview.

This only adds to the fact that he is physically imposing and a decent boxer (even fighting and winning against a famous singer in an amateur boxing event, being the most watched event in spain).

Overall knowing power dynamics makes easier to understand his success and wh he doesn't come accross as an idiot: The confidence to break social norms and frames, and the skills to defend himself from the takers.

Cheers.

P.S:

Needless to say most people have grown accustomed to his weirdness and don't find him weird but rather incredibly funny and charismatic.

Being socially powerful does make wonders for sure.
