Power move: Are you ready? (before an exam)
Hello guys,
as I was going to enter the room to take the exam. An acquaintance of a previous colleague told me: "Are you ready?"
In the past, I would have answered truthfully. But now I know better: it was a power move. This is how I addressed:
Me: Yes and you?
Simple. If I would have answered any other way it would have affected my self-confidence.

Good one John.
Another good option:
At this point, as ready as I can be
Such as, you don't necessarily say "yes", you sub-communicate "I'm here, whatever's been done is done, right now I'm just as ready as I can be", which is a good mix of high power and logic (edit: and without committing to anything, which is even better. You can even use that when you're NOT ready at all, and you'd still be truthful, high-power, and positively self-signaling).

The response to this will vary depending upon the context of the situation.
Situation 1 :-
The person asking this question isn't on the same team (as in the activity in individual and/or you aren't in direct opposition).
I wish you good luck.
Situation 2 :-
The person asking the question is in the same team (you both are teammates working on a common activity)
Ready when you are.
Situation 3 :-
The person asking this question is on the opposite team (You are in direct competition with the person) .
I hope you are.Â

Chiming in here after all of these already great answers, I like Anon's response:
Him: Are you ready?
You: We're about to find out (smile) (implied frame: the extent of one's preparedness is also determined by their results—therefore, you might be adequately prepared or might not and, until exams are complete and reveal how prepared everyone was, he's in the same boat too.
So, I like that this response puts you both on equal footing.
However, in my opinion, Lucio's response is the most eagle-like. (I'm not a fan of any frame that puts more value on results than effort as a principle of the antifragile ego.)

Add another to the pot. 'Born ready'
With a nod up and an eyebrow flash.
I d do similar to Ali's too. Yes time for us to take our shot.
Or
Yes this is when it all comes together.
Tweak Anon's slightly to We: We will know afterwards
