PU V.8 Upgrade Underway
Quote from Lucio Buffalmano on June 11, 2022, 9:47 amJust a quick heads up:
Starting today with Power University's upgrade #8.
Main goals:
- Breaking up lessons, to make them briefer, leaner, and PU generally easier to go through
- Adding new concepts and examples (many of which originated in this very forum)
- Removing unnecessary parts and/or spinning them off into the forum: the goal is to add practical wisdom, without making PU longer and, ideally, briefer. That might not always be possible, but it's still worth trying

Quote from John Freeman on June 11, 2022, 10:39 amHello Lucio,
thanks for the heads-up! I actually started SU so when I’ll be done it will be just in time for a new pass on PU.
I will start a new journal about my dating journey as it is the right time to focus on that for me.

Quote from leaderoffun on June 11, 2022, 11:10 amDamn, I have to finish my first pass before v 8 goes live. I've been slacking lately, lost my streak.
For those of you who made multiple passes with different versions: isn't that a bit confusing? For me, it'd be I think. I have anchor points to notes in my mind and maybe if they are moved around (say a section is moved to another lesson) it would break that connection. Not sure about that, just my gut feeling. It might be seeing the new organization actually help learning by contrasting it with the previous (in case you still remember it lol)

Keep in mind the links will work unless I change the URL name (and unless I realize some ULR is truly confusing, I won't do that).
What might happen is that a section has been moved into its own smaller lesson, but it should be very quick to find because it will still be in the same module, with a descriptive title.
As a matter of fact, I think it will be more logical and easier to move around, also because I will pull back some lessons that were in an "advanced module" and place them back into their original topic module (thanks to Matthew for his feedback on that!)
Example:
From that "Social Exchange I" I took out the "definitions" and put them before the lesson.
Those who have a basic grasp of the definition won't need that part.
And they will now have a more compact, streamlined lesson to go back to.Then I brought back the "advanced rules" from the "advanced lesson container" that was further below (and that "advanced lesson container may be the only one I actually delete).
So those who understand the basics can skip to the "advanced rules" lesson if they only need a refresher of the advanced ones.
For anyone who wants a refresher of social exchanges, everything is in one single module, just with the content slightly more distributed around smaller smaller "logical units".
While there certainly was an advantage in having everything in one lesson, I think one big lesson scares people away.
And it still takes time to wade through a very long lesson to find what you were interested in.
Now the conceptual break-ups make it easier to locate what you're interested in, quicker to open the lesson, and quicker to find what you wanted. But I'm happy to hear if you -or anyone else- disagrees.

Quote from leaderoffun on June 12, 2022, 10:29 amI think the idea of beefing up exercises is great.
There's a saying: "you cannot teach yoga with a lecture" and this might apply here.

Quote from Lucio Buffalmano on June 28, 2022, 8:29 amPhase I, the restructuring of content is largely done.
Now I'm going over the notes on what to add/amend.
This phase II is more content-related, but of course there is some overlap between the two, and if any of the new content can be better structured to complement what's already there, I'll go for it.
