Question: How To Use Submissiveness To Gain Power and Advance at Work?
Quote from S.P. on August 11, 2022, 9:17 amHello TPM,
I hope you all are well. I have a question, I'd love to hear your responses.
I've noticed not only on here , but online in general, there has been a lot of discussion about the "submissiveness" of a woman and how it is very desired by men.
As you all know, I work in a male-dominated career-field.
My question is:
How as a woman can I use "submissiveness" (which is desired by men), to my advantage, to gain power and status at work, and to advance in my career?
If you have any examples of "submissive" actions/measures I can take and use at work as well, I would definitely appreciate if you could share them.
Thank you.

Have you gone through the business power dynamics modules already?
Specific situations can always call for strategic submissiveness, for sure, and if you have any specific examples, we can analyze those.
But if we're talking about higher-level strategies and general approaches, then submissivness, at least as it's often understood in the sense of giving way, keeping quiet, letting others always win, etc. is not a good high-level approach for work.
It's much better to combine power with warmth.
And, for women, it might be a good idea to also over-weigh that "warmth" as it's easier for women to be labeled as "bitches" or come across as annoying when high power -there is one lesson specific for combining power with femininity elements to avoid coming across as annoying or abrasive in PU, check that-.
