Share the bad news first IF it's going to come out anyway

If a bad news is going to stay secret, or if few people are going to know about it, it's probably best if you say nothing.
But if it's going to come out anyway, and probably blow out, it's probably best if you say it first.
That way, you come across as more honest to begin with.
And you can more strongly shape the narrative if you are the one to break the news.
