Social Pyramids: don't scratch with the turkeys, fly with the eagles
Quote from John Freeman on February 6, 2021, 9:40 amHello guys,
Lucio said that high-quality people are at the top of the social pyramids (work, friends, etc.), rightly so. In my journey in the medical profession, I went through horrible places with nasty people, both nurses and doctors.
Now, after a couple of years, I'm a little bit higher in the hierarchy. I can see that at this level, there are less low-value/quality people, by definition.
So this post is an encouragement to you to push through any current difficulty while aiming for the stars and working to becoming higher quality. Of course, at the top of the social pyramid there are also the nastiest manipulators. That is also why we are learning social skills and power dynamics.
Soar as high as you can! You'll meet other eagles.

I thought that my troubles with power dynamics will get better when I go higher.
I find that the most Machiavellian and power-savvy value-takers are at the top as well.
I don't find them easy to deal with.
They are like flying turkeys soaring high in the sky.But I always remembered this man at a networking event.
A true gentleman.
It was just one evening but he kept pulling me up socially around everyone. And he didn't have any need to portray himself as "high-value".
One exchange that struck me wasMe: I try to adjust my time zone by sleeping at the right time on the plane.
Him: I never try. I always end up watching the movies.
It seems that he feels so secure in his status that he didn't need to play any game at all.
It's very seldom that I meet such a person.
Then I got his business card.
He leads a major department in a prestigious company.I added him on LinkedIn, and he gave a very warm reply.
It's like when everyone is pulling power moves, being warm & friendly seems to stand out.
His warm & friendly behaviour has the vibe of been there & done that as well due to the calmness.

Quote from John Freeman on February 6, 2021, 11:49 am100% Matthew, that's the way to be.
I told it and I'm going to tell it over and over again: all this stuff, self-development and all is about making the choice of who we want to be.
Who do you want to be?Â
The guy you described above or your social climber colleague. The choice is yours.
