Tense & weird vibe in groups: an example

A good example of a "weird vibe" in a social group:
Notice:
- Light one-upping
- Nervous laughter
- Tension when delivering jokes
The "leader" is more on the cold/dominant side, doesn't build others up, and sometimes disempowers them.
It's nothing too big, it's all pale yellow, but that still makes for a slightly tense vibe.
There is no real friendships and love in this group.
