TPM Meetup 2023
Hello TPM Community,
recently we talked about the small number of people writing here. I even talked about an "inner circle". So here is an idea: let's meetup!
It's been a long time we interacted here. It makes sense, to me at least. In person or virtually since some people are on another continent (Ali, Transitioned for instance).
We need:
- The people: who's up?
- The date: a week-end preferably I think is better for everyone. Until the end of the year for instance. I'll make propositions based on your answers.
- The place: I would propose Berlin since it's Lucio's homebase but any European city would do it for me. Also possible to do it virtually depending on your answer or half virtual half in person. So we can get to see each other faces.

I like the idea.
My comments:
- Place (Berlin?): Berlin sounds good (not my homebase these days, but just because it was the first proposed place, why not. Also open to anything else, but since it's a solid choice, there are organizational advantages to go with the first option)
- Time (Spring 2024?): I'm thinking 2023 maybe a short notice. With a longer time horizon, more people could organize themselves and maybe combine a (family / spouse / other friends / personal) holiday with the meeting

As an alternative I also like Amsterdam and it’s quite central in Europe. Spring 2024 works for me.

Yeah, my message was angling for "in person".
My preference is in person, but one can definitely also do both (at different times I think is better because in most people's minds "in real life beats online", so to sit in front of a laptop while others are there in person may frame the online ones as second class attendants).
@Power Duck, for you it's not a matter of should / should not, for being so close to Berlin/Amsterdam, you have no excuses not to be there :)

The only option I have is online since I'm not yet financially independent and even if I had the money I wouldn't be allowed to go abroad, although it doesn't hurt to try.
If in the end the meet up ends up being fully in person, we could organize another one again a couple of years later. The bill for the food is on me of course 🙂.

Yes I would ask my parents if it's ok for them. I think it's a great opportunity for your self-development and getting out of your comfort zone (going abroad alone). Worst case scenario they say "no". So there is nothing to lose here.
I agree with you Lucio, I would also prefer either 100% IRL or 100% online. Of course I also prefer in person. And yes we could do both at different times: once online another time IRL or the other way around. I prefer meeting first IRL and then following up with online.
Regarding the choice of place, the advantage of Berlin is that you know the place and therefore the cool spots to eat/have drinks/hang out.
