Vulnerability and Power
Quote from John Freeman on January 20, 2021, 9:27 pmHello guys,
here is a topic that I think is worth discussing. I'll start with this quote:
“If anyone tells you that a certain person speaks ill of you, do not make excuses about what is said of you but answer, ‘He was ignorant of my other faults, else he would have not mentioned these alone.'” – Epictetus
What do you think about this?
I'll post more on this topic later.

Quote from Lucio Buffalmano on January 20, 2021, 10:30 pmI love it, it's a great reply.
I can see how with some people, or in some cases, it could be a "fake" vulnerability.
But that doesn't make it any less effective or any less of a good move.
What I also like in similar situations is "non-defensiveness" answers, but let's stick to vulnerability for now.
In the right circumstance, either admitting the fault one is being accused of, or adding even more faults, are both great potentially great moves.

That is what I'm learning these days, to admit my weaknesses so they cannot be used against me (non-defensiveness). It's effective both for having less shame and to deal on an equal foot with other people.
