A year or so ago I was at a restaurant with a cute girl.
The cute waitress seemed like a known face but I couldn't put my finger on it.
I had to find out!
So when we went to pay I let my friend go first on purpose.
And when I had a bit more space for myself, this is how the dialogues unfolded:
Me: How long have you been working here
Her: About two years, why
Me: You seem like a known face...
Her: Oh, do I... Lucio Buffalmano
A couple of seconds later it dawned on me: we had met a few years prior.
Since I was there with another girl, since she was waiting my table and since I didn't remember her and she remembered me the power was all on my side.
Now here is the funny part.
Guess what she said next?
She said this:
Her: I am sorry that I didn't reply to your text
See what she did there?
She pulled the "I'm sorry" move to rebalance the relationship and make it seem like it was her who spurned me last.
I can't remember if there was a last text from my side that went unanswered, but given the situation, it didn't even matter: there was no "I'm sorry" in her "I'm sorry", it was 100% power move to rebalance the relationship.
