When she won't let inconsequential mistakes go

I notice that some women will not let even an inconsequential mistake made by me to go.
This puts me a bind for the following reasons:
-- Suppose I say something like "why are you making such a big deal about that, it doesn't really matter." Then I look weak and insecure and I'm buying into her frame.
-- If I ignore it, then I am accepting the criticism because I am not refuting it.
So: What does a man do when a woman calls him out form making an inconsequential mistake?
