Women don't need a man
Quote from John Freeman on October 7, 2023, 11:56 amHello TPM Community,
I find the "I don't need a man" a huge power move and frankly, hugely misandrist. It's also a way to re-empower oneself when one cannot find or keep a man. Self-lying basically. I've been watching a few videos and yes they are very very biased. However, I think this is an interesting example:
Men vs Women survival Island.

The sheer joy these guys have is interesting. How much is it staged? I don't know. It's to be considered.
So here we can see why men are useful to a society. I also noticed this at work. Women prefer to work with men. I've had numerous conversations about it. It makes work simpler as there is less bullshit, and emotions and catfighting.
I personally love to work with women. That's one of the reason I chose pediatrics. However, I do agree about the emotions, gossiping, catfighting. I love to work with women but it's easier to work with men.
I do feel that as men in advanced societies we are under-appreciated as a sex/gender. We mostly hear about the negatives about men these days. And I think it's really sad, disempowering and actually lose-lose.
All this to say that social media is way too negative about men in general. Yes there is plenty of assholes and abusers but it's equally distributed between men and women.

Quote from Lucio Buffalmano on October 8, 2023, 1:04 pmYep, agree, it's often a power move.
Also, the simple fact of stating out loud of "not needing (anything)" says something about that person's motivation.
Plus, in my mind, it also immediately casts some doubts over the veracity of that person's statement.
Someone who's at peace with himself and has no urge to influence others doesn't go around saying that don't need X.
To me, it also feels like an innoying form of imposing and indirect shaming (ie.: "oh, you have a man? so you needed one? You're not so independent, eh?".
Men don't do it nearly as much, but whenever a man would say that "he doesn't mean a woman", that also says something (potentially not so good) about him.
The same can be said for similar formats in other areas.
For example, some of the questions these similar formats:
- You don't need vegetables. Says the carnivore. Yeah, OK, so what? There are still benefits to it and if not... I may still want to enjoy it, so what, you want to feel validated about your anti-consensus choice?
- You don't need meat, says the vegeterian. Yeah, OK, so what do you exactly wanna say with that, that we should all conform to your choice? Then say so straight
- You don't need to read books. Yeah, of course, you're not gonna die without reading. But lemme guess... You don't read books, right?
- You don't need to go to college. Hmmm of course not. But... Why are you saying that? Do you have some resentment for those who do have an advanced degree in their background?
- Etc. etc.

I don't have more comments else than I'm finding more and more that many women have a manipulative side. And it comes out in these little comments for instance.
Yes, women are people and people are/can be manipulative. I think the advantage of going "red pill" is to remove women from their pedestal and treat them like any other person. The trick is to walk the fine line without becoming misogynistic nor bitter. So a drop a poison to see more truth but not more.
