Quote from Matthew Whitewood on December 11, 2021, 10:52 amIt's summer in Australia, isn't it?
Heard about BBQs during Australian Christmas :).I liked crucial conversations.
It went well with difficult conversations.Inspiring Remote Tech Teams
Thanks for the recommendation on this.
I am interested in the topic of remote working.
Even more so on managing remote tech teams.I got the course from Remote How.
It's an online course.
I paused but intend to continue when time permits.
I could elaborate more.NLP for business analysts
NLP as in natural language processing? (very interested, happy to share, happy to learn)
Or neurolinguistic programming? (not as interested)Leadership Books
Thanks for the book: The language of leadership.
I am focusing on these 2 books at the moment:
- Project Leadership from Theory to Practice by Jeffrey K. Pinto, Peg Thoms, Jeffrey Trailer, Todd Palmer, Michele Govekar
- The New Psychology of Leadership
I'm having a bit of trouble with these 2 books.
So I'm taking longer to work them through.Course on the Business Side of Building Apps
There's an 8-hour free YouTube video online.
I intend to take a look at it.The course outline is here.

Quote from Lucio Buffalmano on December 11, 2021, 11:11 amWow Kevin, that seems like a whole year worth of books!
Do share your thoughts and/or golden nuggets if you find any.
Personally, I'm going for one book only recently:
- Givers and takers
It's really awesome.
This was surprising because I didn't have high expectations after Charlie from Charisma on Command criticized it -and I generally trust COC-.Instead, it will become of TPM's foundational books and some golden nuggets will also end up in PU.
Edit:
And since Matthew also mentioned courses, I'm going through some videos and courses of Todd Valentine for Seduction University -he has lots of infields that are perfect for examples as well-.

- The New Psychology of Leadership
I remembered you were reading it.
It's definitely "tough" to go through, but it was probably the best book/resource for TPM's lessons/articles on leadership.
Did you get the latest updated version?

Quote from Transitioned on December 12, 2021, 12:22 amYou guys lol. I knew this would be a dangerous thread now I have more I want to read! Matthew kudos I d love to look at TNPOL but too dense for me.
Only promise I can make . A LOT of people recommend crucial conversations and there's a 2021 edition. So if there's anything additional on the new ed worth a mention or any crossover with the other books I m reading I ll post for Lucio's call on update to the review
Matthew, the BA book is more about the guy being an experienced BA from a serious country. BA is a bit of a bitch job where your pimped out by a resource mgr to projects if they like you. And have to keep the business happy at the same time as pushing back on their wishlist. So I m expecting to pick up some tips on power protecting
BTW Lucio if your looking for material for SU back when the earth was young and I was dating I found Bobby Rio's material on rapport building and story telling useful (cherry on top not the main dish)

Thanks for sharing man. I will put this on my list too.
My first job was kind of like business analyst for natural language processing. So the book piqued my interest a lot.
The title was applied researcher.
But I ended up having to
- Research natural language processing
- Do development work
- Deploy code in customer environment
- Talk to the customer directly
- Talk to a few project managers
- Like you advised, the annoying resource manager kept pestering me. Even asked me to organise company events
Not bad as a first job to dip my feet but decided to leave. I felt "scammed" for the salary and career progression.
