Business Strategy: Popus, Traffic & Conversions
Quote from Lucio Buffalmano on June 2, 2019, 10:32 pmI'm now testing pop-up options.
I have never been a big fan of pop-up and so far always avoided it.
But The Power Moves has taken a rather big hit in the last Google algorithm update and I've been told I should cut on the book summaries to "specialize more".
Focus On What Google Want?
It makes a lot of sense.
In a way, I've taken it too far with the breadth of this website.
For a period, I was even researching nutrition and published a like 20 reviews of nutrition books with references checks and the likes.
That was a bit too much indeed and I put those posts on "private".Yet, I can hardly go farther than that and cut out the sections on financial independent and self-development.
That wouldn't reflect who I am. I love both social psychology and personal development. And yes, I'm also a bit of an academic who likes to read more scientific stuff.
But to me, they're two faces of the same coin, anyway.
I can't see social improvement without general self-development.
And I can't see proper self-development done without science and good literature behind.Remove good literature and science, and you're basically a snake oil salesman. And you know I hate those (see Joe Dispenza and Tai Lopez).
Focus on Conversions, Not Traffic
So I decided to heed the second suggestion I got: focus on conversion more than on traffic.
I have basically hit the "self-sustaining levels" with the website.
It's not more about reaching a point where I don't have to prostitute myself for traffic, which is where I always wanted to be.My goal is not maximizing profit.
It's not making as much money as possible.
And it's not even getting as much traffic as possible. It's simple to reach a point of financial self-sufficiency.
And the popup could help becoming more independent of search engines by helping collects emails.
I am using Optin Monster, and I'll keep you updated.
