"Feminized society": is it true men in the West are oppressed?
Quote from John Freeman on June 17, 2022, 5:26 amVery enlightened opinion Kavalier, thank you very much.
About the “ganging up on masculine man” this made me realize that this is what was happening at work with me.
Basically as I worked to become more dominant, there was a pushback against it. And now I understand why.
A quick note about Nordic European countries. Based on my research, women in Nordic countries have high expectations from men. I saw the same in Switzerland.
So like you I’m all for equality before the law. However, I think that since dating and relationships are easier for female there is a social power imbalance here. Therefore the more the state favours women the more it disempowers men in the dating World. Also the richer the country the harder it gets. Because men have less and less to offer to women. So in order to be considered as partners, they have to offer more.
So if whatever you do you’ll stay at an average earning power in a rich welfare state society, then it makes sense to improve the things you control: working out, etc.
So since resources and status are so difficult to acquire in a large rich population to differentiate oneself, men choose to diversify their value.
I’m talking about getting quality females here.

Quote from Kavalier on June 17, 2022, 6:17 amHello, John! Thanks for your thoughts on this, I appreciate it very much.
I totally agree with you. In fact, this is one of the "deconstruction" (to use feminist lingo) processes feminists have to undertake if they are serious about true equality. There can be no true equality if they don't address hypergamy.
Now, after reading this thread and your last post, it just occurred to me that there's a dual strategy going on here, from their part:
- From one side, they undermine masculinity as a value in order to carve more space for power within society. So they'll push back on the guys they don't see fit to marry
- From the other, sex and marriage to powerful men is still the tried and true method to ascend socially. So they'll gladly submit to the "high value" men
It seems pretty effective to me, and it helps to explain why feminist rethoric and practice don't usually go together.
(I'm brainstorming after reading here, so if someone said something similar already, please don't take it as if I am trying to steal your idea. In fact I'm glad to acknowledge if I someone said something similar somewhere else).

Quote from John Freeman on June 17, 2022, 6:52 amThat's exactly it: feminism is about power. Take more in the workplace and take more in your social/private life. I understand the empowering women thing. I'm all for it. What is not taken into account is that I think it often disempowers men.
There is a competition for resources in the workplace. However, men need resources in order to attract women, whereas women don't. If a woman don't get a job, she'll still be able to get a relationship. If a man doesn't get a job, it's going to be very challenging for him to get a relationship.
So the competition is real and we have more to gain by winning it.
Women have been very aggressive professionally from a feeling of revenge and having been taken advantage of (generalising here). That being said, we don't have to be the victims of this dynamic.
That is, as a man, you have to work harder than females if you want the best chance to secure a mate. We cannot afford to get lazy.

Quote from Kavalier on June 18, 2022, 5:44 amAgreed!
Now, one thing that comes to my mind is: in the long run (well after we are all dead - unless Lucio really decides to share the power move to live forever he mentions in this thread :D) , does this power imbalance in the sexual marketplace tend to stabilize itself in a manner that is unfavourable to men?
- I think this is something that we, men who take care of themselves, shouldn't really worry about. As we improve ourselves, we are already part of the high value crew and are getting even better. There is no shortage of high value women for us :)
- And true equality will mean that both genders are going to take steps into improving themselves in every aspect - in the sexual market place there is also competition among women after all, so offer and demand will take care of that. In a society that maximizes it's aggregate SMS value, there won't really be "low quality" individuals - men or women. Even if we don't arrive at this utopic level, the first scenario still holds.
We will fare pretty well in whatever scenario.
Agreed!

Quote from Transitioned on June 19, 2022, 3:38 amI don't worry about it too much anymore in my private life - got a good woman. Not sure I'd like to be out there anymore - lot of the dating scene seems post apolocyptic. Soon they'll have sex robots that can cook so the neck beards and incels will be catered for. Like the linux guys used to be - sorry I can't come out I'm re-compiling my girlfriend. I do get tired of the feminisation of work. All that wonderfully subtle and calibrated in-direct communication leads to lots of miss-understandings and drama. And that you can't directly allocate tasks to people (politely and with a reason) when its your job as a manager is a joke.
I agree with Lucio that becoming high value can help over time but if you want quick results being a little bit better and changing to a better local market or sub-market delivers. Apart from for shits and giggles as we say in Aus, I haven't bothered an Aussie girl for over 12 years. My LTR backtrail is Chinese, Chinese, Filipino, Sri Lankan, Romanian, Estonian, Vietnamese - all Aus citizens acquired in Melbourne. And yes there were plenty of local Janes, Sallys, Crystals, and Helens before them. I just moved to better as SOP. You guys are in Europe so yr sorted - EE all the way. I liked these girls because they know how to form a team with a man, can cook, have a culture, can speak multiple languages and have travelled. Makes daily life a bit more interesting if you know how to bring it out. Otherwise as my brit mate said life becomes 'all socks and Sainsburys'.
How to find and approach your chosen demographic is another conversation.
