Gonna test some new color combinations...

... Both for the website, and the forum.

Feel free to comment here for which ones you like, and which ones you don't.

I find the strong black theme a bit straining on my eyes.

It also draws my attention to the black frames.
The previous light blue fades into the background and allows the content to be the main focus.

What do you think?

Yeah, I see what you mean.

I've never been a fan of reading long white text on dark background.

I found the previous blue OK.
But it clashes badly with the current black menu on top, no?

I see what you mean. I think it does clash with the top black banner.

I'm not sure of any quick fixes at the moment.

I don't suppose the designer advised on colour combinations.

I am guessing you would like black to be the main colour of the site. And I think as a general rule of design, one cannot have 2 main colours.

Now I see black, blue, yellow to appear on the site.

Thank you Matthew!

Yes, I kinda of "fell" into the black because of the homepage first banner background.
That opening black banner with a golden chess piece seemed too good to change.

I think black can work but I don't know how to make it work :).

The golden chess piece looks good indeed.

I was thinking grey but that may look blend.

A wild idea is to make the font colour gold too.

The blue also looks good... On most pages, but not on the homepage.

And on the homepage it doesn't look good to have blue backgrounds. The yellow/gold works better for that.

Maybe one can choose a different colour scheme for the overall website from the forum.
I kind of recall some websites taking this approach.

Yea, taking a deeper look through the rest of the website, the black/gold-yellow color scheme seems to be an improvement for the homepage and blog articles. Yet, it clashes with the forum.

So, maybe the solution is to run another test. What do you think about changing the blue in the forum to gold-yellow and then doing a quick poll, Lucio?

For sure.

Just to be all on the same page: it had been changed to black already, like in Matthew's picture.

Because of caching -and maybe browsers' settings- some changes might not be immeidately visible everywhere-.

Put it to yellow now.
Maybe a bit too yellow 😀 :

Edit:
Made it darker now
