Introducing: the TSS website! Feel free to share your feedback
Hello everyone,
It's been quite some work and it's still not fully finished (or anywhere near perfect :), but TheSocialStrategist.net is finally here.
A couple of years ago, I had an idea about taking the forum's best content and combining them into eBooks that could be sold in TPM's store.
Now, I'm thinking that the forum's top content can be organized into articles that are published on TSS.net.
This way:
- TPM preserves its blog as only being for the absolute best/most value-giving content
- And, at the same time, forum content that's still very value-giving now has a better chance to rank higher on Google: since Google tends to rank articles higher than forum posts
- And, more TSS book sales and TPM visitors are quite possible (with TSS.net's growth): since TSS.net will direct readers to TPM
Plus, of course, the value-add that readers will now be able to get the forum's best stuff all in a more organized format (no jumping from thread to thread piecing information together on the topic you want to learn more about).
If you have any thoughts/feedback on the site as well as any other ideas on how we could put it to great use, happy to read.

Both the idea and how it looks like, it was a "wow" moment when I first opened it.
More than once on some forum threads I thought "there is some really good concept/idea/strategy/technique here that could be turned into an article".
Throwing out a first idea here:
The TSS blog could be that in-between a forum post, and longer-format article.
Such as, take some good thread or post, put a good title, and publish it as a post.
Just an example from a recent thread from Growfast:
Great advice there, but likely lost in the shuffle, also because the title is a bit generic.
To increase its appeal to the large public, one could title that:
- How to deal with know-it-all friend
Or:
- How to respond to the annoying guy who "always has to outdo you"
That may already get some Google traffic for people searching for something similar.
Then the article would list the different opinions and contributions in that thread as different techniques and approaches for slightly different scenarios.
Just an idea.

How Lucio + the Community Can Help
Right now, my plate is full with other work.
Eventually, I'll get around to creating some content for the TSS blog (TSSB), but in the meantime, you can:
- Recommend threads/posts that should be one article on TSSB: which, I'll open up a new thread to collect those ideas, if anyone has any
- Write the articles as a contributor to TSSB: and I'll take the time to revise/edit the posts accordingly if necessary
Any thoughts?
If anyone has any ideas on how they'd like/prefer to contribute, happy to read.

This is the landing page I'll be testing/running traffic to:
Kartra is currently giving some trouble, so some of the web design is loading incorrectly. Plus, the copywriting is very limited due to the value proposition (it's only one chapter that primarily deep dives into only one core concept).
But, I wanted to share the general approach I'm going for on this first test as well as how it compares to some of my thoughts in the marketing thread.
To be honest, I'm not the happiest with this landing page, but it's only for a small-scale test I'll be running and the page will be taken down after 14 days anyway.
So, if I can get to it, I'll share the mindset, thoughts, and ideas behind this page.

I really like how the main page at TheSocialStrategist.net looks. I also like the free chapter page, but there were two things I noticed when I looked at it.
First, I think the free chapter page would benefit from a bit more color (or something):
There is so much white/gray area around the book cover that makes the page look empty.
Comparing this to the main page which, in my opinion, looks much slicker:
Even though it has less text it feels fuller.
The background is eye catching without being distracting and the information is very clear.
The other thing I noticed is at the bottom corner it looks as if the text of the logo is crossed over:
Here it looks as if it says The Social Strategist.
This is also the case on the main webpage at the top left corner. At first when I saw it I was confused about why the text was crossed over before I realized it was part of the background. Perhaps putting the text right above or under the line would make it clearer.Â

Yeah, I agree, that page was pre-designed by Jason West, someone who's claimed his landing pages have good conversion rates, so I didn't want to mess with its design too much.
If I had taken more creative freedom, maybe it would look a bit fancier, but I'd like to see what kind of results West can get for TSS.

Yeah, that was actually done on purpose as part of the logo I designed in two minutes—I simply wanted something to throw up there until I could get a professional to craft one and I thought it looked better than only chess pieces beside the title.
But, if you say it looks odd/off/like a mistake, it may be worth taking the time to design it with my own skill until I can get someone else to take it even further.
Yes, to add my own feedback, I felt the same as Mats with the logo struck through (and thought it was because of a first version that still needed fixes).

Updated it (the logo) last night and looked at it this morning again with fresh eyes and it does indeed look much better, thank you both.

Cool news, only two weeks after TSS.net has gone live and we're already on the first page on Google for our book's title:
Right now, I have a web designer working on the blog post formatting (the text looks terrible with WordPress' default settings).
Then, I'll publish the articles I have in drafts and one of the final tasks will be to set up the email opt-ins to connect to TPM's email list.

I'm quite excited to see that website growing, it was really a great idea -and great execution-.
Also, since it seems I now have a user there too, happy to contribute some articles sometimes -maybe we can find a way to sync in a way that we both can post, without going for the same thread-.
