Introduction
Quote from bsmartin32 on January 15, 2024, 11:58 pmHello Everyone,
My name is bsmartin32 and I'm about 20% through PU. I haven't participated in the forum much, but keep getting linked to it through the curriculum. After posting to a different section, I realized I should be posting an introduction.
I'm from a 30 year old, entrepreneur, family man, from Alberta, Canada. I'm always ambitiously working towards goals and looking to get more out of life.
I have read plenty of self-development material over the last decade and a half. But I've never came across power dynamics in a comprehensive format. Just reading through the first couple lessons of PU, I had a big Aha moment. It was piece of social interaction that I could almost tell that I was missing, but I couldn't quite figure out exactly what I was missing (if that makes sense). It's a real world skill set, but not covered in the Self-Help section at the book store.
I'm excited to keep working on the curriculum and continue the trail & error implementation in my own life. I think the forum is a fantastic addition to PU, not only to ask questions about specific scenarios, but to read real-world examples of other people's trial & error experiences. As my understanding of the material improves, I hope to be more involved.

Yeah, you said it.
That was the realization that made me start TPM.
The closest sections may be:
- Power/strategy with some books like The Prince, The 48 Laws. But maybe not nearly as "how-to"
- Social skills, but few if any resource cover power, strategy, gaining status/respect, and of course manipulation (let alone all of them)
- Dating & relationships. Dating for men is good, while much relationship self-help misses the power angle. PU makes them part of the general, larger approach
- Red pill. Which albeit many seem to be unaware of, is largely about power and power relations between genders (both individual and social levels). But a large chunk of what's currently there are biased analyses (review of Rollo Tomassis analyses/flawed thinking already scheduled)
But the way I see it, a major difference (except for dating for men) is that PU is concerned with the practical applications and final goals.
The examples, how-tos, and how to apply it in real life to achieve goals.
