Justifying late replies by mentioning one was busy, or forgot

Yeah, seems perfect, Transitioned.

Justifying the (supposed) lateness with what:

What else you had been doing
Reminding her (and everyone) that the other task has been successfully executed (nice small opportunity grab for deserved self-promotion)
That it's not like you had forgotten or anything

The "next on my list" is also great as it reassures her she's still important in your work and has your consideration.

All in all, turns a potential loss, into a win.
