Small doings
This is going to start out with foundations and discovery and then move into daily life. No Travel this hols equals enough time to make a couple of small step changes.
Goals
- Make step change in reflex responses to power plays
- Improve narrative skills
- pop out one tech cert and use that as content for preso practice
Backlog
- Go through all the work related material in PU (foundation)
- Collate all my notes on good meeting /presentation skills (build vocab for exec demeanor)
- Collate various work domain notes (too good to fuck with)
Potential blocker to avoid
- Australian society is very feminised. Make sure you don't become a counter puncher. Default must be high warmth and collaborative frame.
Long term weakness to work on
- keeping your enemies closer (and thinking they have you fooled)

- How to get your enemies to respect you and even help you to achieve your goals? Explore common interests and conflicting interests

Started learning video editing app to make my own micro trainings off forum posts. Pretty time intensive so going to have to keep them tiny and rough.

New PBI ask questions on forum on applying PU learnings to previous conflicts I ve experienced.

Added job hunting off job boards into mix. 10 applied for. Research shows you get more replies if apply in morning so first thing activity. 3 months to run on my current contract.
Salesforce study has progressed. I have a friendly consultancy who will give me an internship and say I worked there so can upskill and cover a gap in resume if needed. I just need the product knowledge to action. Cashed up so short income gap no big deal.
Job hunting was pig gathering. Got 3 offers at unexciting money. Spoke to boss they re talking possible day rate contract extension short term but good bank. Current goal is bank 10k then buy investment property so cash first. Then I LL target getting stable gig.
Boss gave me extra work and a maybe (trybuy) so start looking in Feb and if a longer term day rate gig comes by au revoir

Tiny green shoots
I think a journal is a place you can confess. And being a guy who's always got by on technical skills and being a nice guy, sometimes the whole power dynamics sphere feels so alien so I get a bit overwhelmed and feel a little hopeless when I look at how much I have to learn.
Small sign of hope today. At my local cafe doing some PU study over breakfast. They only do counter service. Asked the waiter for another coffee:
- gave a reason - didn't want to leave laptop etc. unguarded
- said "look I know maybe you guys" can't do this - power to say no
- He asked what type of coffee and I said flat white but I'm breaking the rules - acknowledged his positional power
He brought the dollar back to table and I said tips and he said 'nah don't bother'
I wanted to tip so later I handed him a five dollar note and said "could you please do me a favour and put that in the tips'
- Made it a bout him helping the team
- Gave him a chance to put the money into the team jar in front of his boss
Now its a long way from stroking the waiter to being able to manage some head kicking exec at work but small steps and often....
I'm like John I only want to grow fangs to bite back so pleased to see that I am 'getting it' a little bit and can add to the common happiness.
