Where to Start
Quote from fisherde01 on January 9, 2021, 7:02 pmHappy 2021 all!
With the new year, I am making a commitment to myself to begin to get my social life under control. I have been a part of the Power Moves for quite a while, but have been procrastinating taking action. I'll just moved to a new city, Nashville TN, and will be 35 this year. I'm feeling like it's a little late to greatly improve my dating and social life, but this is probably just a limiting belief i need to overcome. My question is where do I start. I have gathered quite alot of material over the years, but unfortunately, I've been one of those guys who just picks up a book/course, but never fully reads or integrates it. I think I'd like to start with my dating life. I bought the charisma on command course a little while back, but to be honest, it hasn't really resonated with me as much as I had hoped. So my thought now, is to begin with Todd Valentine's "The System" and Girlschase and implementing a little day by day. I know "Power University" is a little more advanced, so should I wait on this course until after going through the previous two and getting some experience under my belt? I don't just want to be some "pick up artist," I want an overall good social and romantic life, but I'm wondering if this is where to start?

Happy 2021 to you as well, you're quite young to be claiming it's too late.
If you feel that Power University is advanced, have you checked out the Resources section yet?
Here are the best resources for social skills:
And, the best resources for dating:
Personally, if you feel that you're not ready for Power University just yet, I think that these resources here are a great place to start. Perhaps even start with social skills only first since that will help you with how you interact with everyone, including women ;).

Well, usually I'd say:
start going out a lot, and talking to men and women alike, but seek places that have a good ratio of women to men, so that talking to more women comes natural, and you're in an already good environment.
Of course, with Covid that might not as smooth as in the good old days, but things will hopefully change soon, and you can probably still do something in person.
And maybe you can also start mapping out where and what you're going to do. If you're unsure yet, I'd start with Meetups.
Then, you can start maximizing your online dating profiles.

I'm on the same page.
Going out a lot will give you the experience to hang theory or techniques upon.Do check out this page where Lucio has given 10 solid activities to improve your social skills
10 Social Skills Activities to Get Good With PeoplePersonally, I have not tried all the activities on that page like martial arts and improv.
I can say that toastmasters, bar hopping, and general social events are really helpful in sharpening social skills. And then listen or read the books that Ali recommended to give you a framework at the same time while you gain experience.
Maybe having too many books is confusing so start from this book

Quote from fisherde01 on January 11, 2021, 11:10 pmAppreciate the replies from everyone! I'm going to start with "The Social Skills Guidebook" and "Charisma University." I figured I'd add Charisma University since I've already paid for it, and there are probably good things to go by, even if I'm not a super energy type of person. And then more importantly, I need to start getting out. Covid definitely has made things more difficult, bars are only open here until 11PM everyday, but that's probably still a good opportunity for Happy Hours. I'm really interested in Toastmasters too. I'll have to check Meetups for good opportunities as well. My online dating skill suck, that's something I will need to work on.

Tom Torero's street improv is quite a good exercise.

Good warm-up on the way to the bar, party, or social meet-up.
What this trains you to do is ease into a conversation and carry the burden of the conversation in the first few minutes.
