Getting paid from Machievellian former boss

Thank you John.

I think you and Lucio are right.

I'll leave the email in my records as a "protection" for me (in case this guy decides to do anything more) but not pursue it in the future myself.

I am continuing to receive, every two-three months, text messages (that I'm ignoring altogether) from my former "friend" who now works with my former boss.

The last one he wrote was:

"Ungrateful!" [laughing emojis]

No doubt he is referring to what my former boss told him, in line with the last email I received from him when I was paid.

I believe that, should I decide in three-four years to pursue my former boss in front of the disciplinary commission, this message gives me proof he also told others about this.

This proves that keeping communications channels open allows others to make mistakes, provided one doesn't fall for their provocation.

If I block incoming communication, I also lose on the possibility to capitalize on whatever comes in; if, on the other hand, I leave a person unblocked but simply don't reply, I have only to gain from another continuing to provoke me. I accrue proof (of ill-intention and/or bad behavior) that can be used in the future, especially in my field of work.

You can also give him rope:

You: I really don't understand, why are you saying that
