How to navigate resources to achieve social mastery on this website

Hi Lucio, I want to have social mastery, I am confused about what to do. Am I suppose to complement the social power course by reading all the social skills books on your website, or do I just need your social power course and that's it if I want social mastery. I'm asking because I was confused whether the social power course would also teach all the social skills that all these social skills books/courses (e.g. Charisma on command, people school) you have on your website or would I have to learn the social skills one book by one and use the course also, because from the cirriculum of the course, it looks like it's more about social power dynamics than social skills. Could you please clear this confusion and tell me of the resources I need, whether I need to read all social skills books from this website and or use social power course so that I can achieve social mastery.
Thanks

Hi,

First of all, thank you for asking here and not on an email like most people do.

Very schematically:

  • No, I don't think you need to read every single book / take every single course. Go for the best resources, and use the rest of your time to practice
  • Unless you're very wealthy, I recommend the books more than the courses (similar value, saves money)
  • Social Power is more advanced, it's best if you get there once you already have the basics

What you need depends a lot on where you're starting from.

If you're truly starting from scratch, then go for "Improve Your Social Skills", which covers the basics as the author had Asperger and truly had no natural feel for social dynamics.

One step above is "The Social Skills Guidebook", which provides a good overview.

And then "People Skills", which starts to get into assertiveness and the basics of power dynamics.

You gave me a good idea by the way: a sticky post with the resources for those who want to work their way up.
Too many guys start reading more advanced resources without having the basics down pat, and then act like idiots. Focus on the basics first: a strong tower rests on solid foundation.
