Quote from J Les on December 7, 2023, 8:17 pmHello gentlemen,
I've come across an interesting exchange recently and would very much appreciate some swiftish feedback before I send a response.
Context: There was a meeting with one of the "higher ups" in the organization I'm part off that didn't happen a while back. Got "cancelled" last minute with no follow on.
We and a couple others from the team got invited to another meeting yesterday with the same person. Only to be "informed" that its not for us at the meeting start time... Not very nice right? Here is the exchange that followed:
abc team member 1: we using google meet in invite or if not what zoom link for call ?
xyz team member 1: (zoom link to call )
xyz team member 2: xyz team only for this call gentsabc team meber 2: Oh we got invited
Me (abc team member) : hmmm.... how come only xyz team ?
no response, no clarification, so I followed up, with possibly somewhat harsh after the "time slot" for the conversation was over
Me (abc team member): next time if it truly is only xyz team, don't send the invite to abc team as well and change last minute - not very nice
higher up response: @me clearly is was miscommunication and if sometimes things happen we roll with it as no one intentionally does that , as we value everyone’s time here.
So we don’t need to send that last message ! It’s unnecessary
Thank you
Clearly at this point we're in a showdown
"things happen we roll with it" - sounds like excuse making for - "you just take shit, I call the shots and can disrespect your time at will"
to then covertly cover it with "we value everyone’s time here" - so its harder to hit back with - this was crap.
Next we get:
So we don’t need to send that last message ! It’s unnecessary
which I translated to - "I didn't like that last message, because it called me and the management out"
"I judge it as not good enough and not necessary" - noone wants to be called out for their shitty beavhiour at the end of the day - do they now
And the cheery on top
Thank you
Which I interpret as "end of discussion" - I don't want to hear anymore about this.
Here is what I've drafter and could use some help with, if anyone is willing and able to give a hand. Time is somewhat of the essence I feel on this:
@higherup I didn't say anything the first time it happened. This is not the first, no-one took accountability the first time, so it was necessary. I appreciate that sometimes things happen - let's live up to valuing everyone's time and communicate better! (that includes me possibly being not quite so harsh)
Appreciate any input from the community!
