My Journey to Power

PreviousPage 54 of 60Next

No it really just was a sanity  check to make sure I wasn't heading down a time sink rabbit hole.   Like anything the tools have a bit of learning time costs to work out an efficient work flow.

Posts from other people are the most valuable for the scripts because they make you transfer the learning to different contexts.   But it is also harder to pick up the nuance of other people's situations that's why the early check.

Thank you so much!  I shall go forth and PRODUCE

Regarding organizing events at work. I agree with Lucio.

My opinion: it has little ROI for oneself. It's good to go to these events, it's not necessary to organize them. Yes, why not if it's little work and it's a one time thing. It shows one cares for the team and is willing and able to organize events for the team.

But most ROI is in performance, leadership and getting along well with team members. Asking them personal questions whether on the job or at an event is where the juice is in terms of building relationships/trust.

Being an attending physician is hard mentally physically and emotionally.

Very challenging and I love it. Gotta improve on all aspects.

The challenge I’m facing today is that I absorbed a lot of emotions during the past 6 days at work (wake up at 5:30, works 12-14 hours with a 15 min break goes to sleep at around midnight).

I have to reassure anxious parents, deal with the nurses’ gossip/bullshit/emotions, my bosses’ expectations, frustration with residents, etc. I found my biggest allies is the attending I was having troubles with. He stills tries to one-up me at times but since I defended it also in WA group he’s doing it less. I “thumbs up” him in WA group at work and he looks petty and it’s dealt with.

So today challenging on my day off emotionally and physically. Called a friend but since he’s not a good listener did not help. At the gym now to shake it off.

edit: I now feel secure enough in my new role and leadership to ask for negative feed-back/advice from more people. Subordinates as well.

Quickly: it's cool, my new GF loves to analyze social dynamics. After a dinner at my friends' place we talked from 2am to 6am to analyze it. Was great. So it's also cool as it will help increase the quality of my posts:

  • Questions only about the most challenging situations, less taking more giving
  • Posts with additional input before posting

It will also save me time and build connection with her. She already gave me great advice on how to reject a job offer that has been given to me. In short and in the spirit to add value here: I'll write a letter instead of an email/phone call, I'll highlight the gratitude in a humble way (my way of communicating in these situations anyway), and let the door open for possible/future collaboration.

Community, new content and Confidence University now available here.

Thank you very much Lucio. I think you’re right on. There are still I need to figure out as per other posts but I’m grateful for what I’m experiencing right now. Wherever it goes. Next posts are going to be on sexual and relationship power dynamics.

Something that I think is low but that is considered ok from female perspective generally speaking (it's ok to hit on the strong just because you're weak mindset):

https://www.rts.ch/info/culture/livres/14566894-avec-masterkrep-marion-canevascini-raconte-son-experience-grincante-dans-la-restauration.html

This woman is an artist who was tired of not getting paid or not at all for her work as an artist. So basically she had to work (in her forties) in a creperie. She worked there for a year and now is writing a book bashing them and making fun of the absurdity of the place. Criticizing the logic of profit and low wages.

I said female perspective as she's a female, is interviewed by a female and it seems totally ok.

For me, it's not ok at all. You're a struggling artist (no matter your talent and her work seems ok but not great: as many swiss artists but shhh they think they're awesome), someone gives you an opportunity to improve your livelihood (she accepted the contract, no one forced her) and you use this experience to make more money while social climbing and shaming them on top of it.

She's shaming the guy because they don't recruit professional cooks and said to her: "Here, all you need is to want it". So basically it's a very small business, likely struggling itself, they give you the opportunity to learn the skills on the job. What does the guy gets? Shaming. Basically, she discovered real life in her fourties: yes if you don't have any skill you start in lower positions, have tougher jobs and get paid less. Newsflash. But yeah the World is so mean to you. Only to you.

So basically, the typical victim-one-upping (have to come up with a name if not already) where person self-frame as a victim to pretend they're a hero because they're better than so and so. Virtue signaling in short.

So, it's the typical slave morality (from Nietzsche): "I'm a victim, you're bad I'm morally superior". Whereas basically is: your skills are not good enough to make enough money, so you're struggling, so you're a loser. Meaning you could not overcome a certain threshold of skills/income. Please do not blame anyone else than yourself.

But yeah, sure. Men are bad. Rich people are bad. And you are an amazing person. Sure.

And it's a "social experiment", no it's a job lady. Yes, it's dysfunctional but hey! Many workplaces are. Welcome to life. If everybody would write a book on their dysfunctional workplace...

End of rant. I'm tired of this complaining and victim-posturing.

Typical snowflake (I never use this but here applies).

Her CV: http://www.marioncanevascini.ch/?page_id=18

She's not even trained as an artist... Facepalm. I respect self-learners but hey swallow the tough and move on. Don't advertise to the whole World you worked in a dysfunctional creperie for a year. It's tough for many people out there.

OMG, at the end she does exactly what Lucio said here:

She said that she could realize (after leaving the job): "With this tough job and social misery I could re-situate myself (self-centeredness++). As an artist we have at least a power, the one of to have a distance towards the World and take perspective, to have commitment: political or poetical".

Of course, she's right that's what artist do and it brings tons of value to the World. The part I did not like is the social climbing on her ex-colleagues who are still working there. So not only the bosses but the colleagues. Low.

What a waste of TV time...

I'll allow myself a second rant of the day: the pope.

My apologies if people here are religious and feel it's not appropriate. Saying my thoughts and opinions here.

So now the pope asks for a ceasefire in Gaza.... Facepalm.

I don't think there is a less powerful public figure than the pope. He's the most powerless powerful person I observed.

So basically what he does on top of travelling, saying the mass and blessing people, which is all fine and brings value: he plays the moral judge.

So there is a war and he uses greeeat courage and says: "war is bad!". And then there is poverty and he goes on TV and say: "poverty is bad!". So courageous! Of course I'm not going to talk about the scandals, corruption, bank of Vatican, etc. Not talking about the hypocrisy.

I'm talking about the empty virtue-signaling.

And some people will go: "what a holy man, what a good man!".

Please don't mistake me, I think this pope from my limited understanding is probably the best since John Paul II (well there weren't so many) and I think he's a positive influence on the Church and therefore on the World. Within his field of action: the Church.

Outside of it, I'm very skeptical he has any influence on World politics other than state figures wanting to be seen near him to leech some of his status/piggyback on some of his status. But he's posturing as if he had.

So now, Netanyahu is supposed to do what: "Fuck! This pope is right, we were mistaken. Call the general: we're retreating the troups. Call in the chef, we're going to make a big banquet with the poor people in Gaza. Good man, he helped me to see that I was on the wrong path. What did I do?!? I repent!".

So basically when the pope calls for a ceasefire or stop poverty, he's virtue signaling and closing ranks.

Today, exchanging with Transitioned, I realized this:

BIG MIDDLE FINGER TO MY "FRIENDS"!!!*

Take that motherfuckers!

"So it's better to lower your standards"? "You cannot get a beautiful girl"?

Well, Bernard, look who's got a girl who was a model (as a student), has an awesome body, a beautiful face, is funny and is sharp as a razor blade? (not talking about her other qualities). She speaks 7 languages fluently among other things.

"Ah? Not possible, don't be so ambitious. Aim lower John. Stop dreaming John. A beautiful woman? Man, you've got to wake up. Just find a pretty girl who likes you."

As I said to them about a year ago: as I became an engineer, then another one then a doctor I know that if one sets their mind on a goal and work for it, one eventually reaches it.

Be a believer and get your beautiful smart funny girl!

(don't mind the ego, sometimes it's also valuable to communicate from the ego if there is info/value embedded).

Now onto the next challenges. (back to my humble self hahaha I hope!)

*Talking about my french friends in Switzerland not you guys of course.

I also thought on the more machiavellian side. She's going to boost my status like crazy. I'm going to show her off. She's so beautiful when she has makeup and a dress she looks like a hollywood actress.
