Short Thank You's and Feedback

Page 1 of 26Next

On John's post to minimise clutter on threads while still acknowledging the person's contributions,
I'm starting this thread to give very short feedbacks, one/two liners, and thank yous.

Examples

  1. Awesome post man, thank you!
  2. Wow thought-provoking, give me some time to think
  3. I read your post! Let me respond later.

Downsides

It's more scattering to the attention because we have to pay attention to 2 threads.
The poster may need to go to this thread to read a thank you message.

Inspiration

I read that one businessperson had too many emails to reply to.
However, he wanted to acknowledge people who send him emails.
As such, he gives extremely short answers which are still appreciated.

Like "Thanks for ...! Talk soon"
The small personalisation in ... makes a difference.

Huge thanks to Lucio for replying to so many threads.
Learned quite a few things on voice, covert power moves, etc.

I had the same idea. Was one of my next post. We’re connected Matthew! 😉

I was watching a video yesterday that re-explained the 80/20 rule (better known to some of you as The Pareto Principle).

And, when referencing social media as an example, it said that 80% of your engagement will come from 20% of your followers.

And, that made me stop.

I remember thinking that I received SO many emails from awesome, driven individuals looking for a copy of my book. Yet, whenever I head to the "Activity" section of the forum, I often see a repeat of the same names engaging with the forum's content, starting new threads, and giving value.

And, this forum wouldn't be what it is without you guys being some of the most consistent people I haven't had the pleasure of meeting (yet!). So, thanks to the few of you who show up here to build yourself up and build up others.

On another note, you'll notice that you can sometimes see how many views a particular thread gets. And, even if it's the same names engaging with a thread, you can sometimes see that hundreds of people are still opening these threads.

So, to those of you who are still showing up and at least reading the content here, thanks to you as well. The forum is a bigger learning environment with you here. Knowing that whenever we're open and honest in our journal entries hundreds of people might read it helps provide us with more opportunities to practice an antifragile mindset. And, for that, I thank you.

And, to you, Lucio. For Power University. The course that changed my life and I'm sure will go on to change many more. Thanks a million, man.

You might not have known when you first started your journey—sitting behind a desk coding on WordPress and surfing YouTube for good video examples—that on the other side of that screen would be a young guy looking for a way out of his personal hell. And, you might not have known that all those hours you put into the course would help that young guy climb out of his seemingly bottomless pit of darkness. But, it did.

It only takes one candle to dispel the darkness and light a way forward. Power University was my candle...and has been to this day. So, thank you, Lucio. I'm going to find a way to thank you properly someday.

Touching to read, Ali, thank you for sharing that, man 🙂

OFF-TOPIC

I think that the divide between "those who write" and "those who just read" also comes down to different attitudes of people towards life.

Some people want to be part of things, be in the middle of things, share their voice and opinion, and contribute to the final resolution.

Sometimes that's tied to self-esteem.
I remember when I privately replied to one guy and said "man, that's interesting, write it on the forum, I'll reply" and he said, "I'm not good enough for there". And I thought "you're good enough to consume the content, understand it, come up with good ideas... But not to write about it??".

As far as I can remember, I always wanted to say my piece -not always and necessarily a good thing, since that included times when I didn't know what I was talking about :)-.
And probably it's the same for the guys who write more here.

Overall though, considering the advantages and disadvantages, I think it's a good thing to be willing to put yourself out there and speak up.
You generally don't want to be a lurker of life :).

Thanks for the new book review and recommendation, Underboss!
Sounds really interesting.

The threads on business partnership and relationships are quite complex and thought-provoking.
Taking time to think.

OFF-TOPIC

I find that I can learn much better when I interact with others interested in the same topic.
As long as we produce content that adds value to myself and others, it is a win-win.

Sometimes I journal my learnings on my own notebook and think "why not share it on here?"
I get feedback on my learnings, and, at the same time, open up new conversations for others to jump in.

Thank you for the ideas on value-takers, I think it's moving in a positive direction where it will better flash-out this all-important concept (edit: flesh out*)

And thank you for this thread, Matthew, I think it's a great idea, and works especially well for some threads or posts that add value, but to which we might have little to say about, for whatever reason.

I'm glad it's helpful. I do think it's important to explore this topic.
