Quote from Matthew Whitewood on January 16, 2021, 12:11 pmAnd thank you for this thread, Matthew, I think it's a great idea, and works especially well for some threads or posts that add value, but to which we might have little to say about, for whatever reason.
Now on the threads, we can talk as hard-balling executives with little patience for small talk and gratitude. : )

Quote from Matthew Whitewood on January 16, 2021, 12:20 pmOn the thread about leaving the virtual meeting abruptly
My pleasure Ali!
Meditation does help to enhance my awareness.
I don't do anything fancy in my practice.
Focusing on breath and staring at candle flames.I happen to be more familiar with dynamics in a project environment.
Both as an individual contributor and as a project manager.

Quote from Matthew Whitewood on January 17, 2021, 4:38 amThanks to Ali and Lucio for the insights on detecting lies and microexpressions.
I am taking time to think about these 2 topics.I'm going to read more about nonverbals.
It would be interesting to understand how much you can discern from nonverbals. What I'm Thinking About
- Detecting small lies in frequent, one-off interactions like with taxi drivers, insurance agents, retail sellers, etc.
Where you know less about the conflicts of interest and the personalities of the people involved in the situation.- In new cities where you know about life and people less in terms of culture and whatever new social environment you are involved in.
I do note that improving your understanding of life and people in general will help a lot since there are universal principles and concepts across the world that apply to people

I realised this after commenting on your journal.
Would you like us to comment on your journal thread or maybe set up another thread if we would like to give inputs?
Or maybe it's for reading but not commenting.

Quote from Lucio Buffalmano on January 17, 2021, 1:08 pmCommenting there is totally fine, even helpful often.
As a matter of fact, I was just reflecting on that last comment of yours.
I think you might onto something, a specific technique that might deserve a name, so thank you very much for that, Matthew!

Quote from Matthew Whitewood on January 17, 2021, 1:16 pmAlways a pleasure Lucio!
Thanks for the interesting discussions.I have been thinking about the power dynamics of compliments lately.
There are a few people in my social circle who use compliments as power moves. At the same time, this would help me understand how to compliment people correctly.
In a way that is uplifting, pleasant, and empowering.Maybe there are interesting threads scattered around this forum on compliments.
I remembered you wrote an insightful thread on how to compliment yourself in a savvy manner.
Always a pleasure Lucio!

Quote from Lucio Buffalmano on January 17, 2021, 2:22 pmThank you for creating that thread, Matthew!
It's a new concept so I planned to address it when I have the proper time to think it over -it needs attention-. Getting back to that one soon.

Quote from Lucio Buffalmano on January 19, 2021, 3:23 pmThank you so much to everyone who contributed to define and deepen our understanding of a few crucial concepts of social dynamics, social strategies, and power dynamics.
These last couple of weeks particularly there have been a few very important contributions, as per the "dictionary thread".
John, Matthew, Ali, thank you guys!
