Short Thank You's and Feedback
Quote from Lucio Buffalmano on December 24, 2022, 6:01 pmThank you at @maverick,
For providing such detailed and super-useful feedback on the advice received.
This is only one example as I've noticed Maverick does it often:
Quote from Maverick on December 24, 2022, 3:21 pmYes they are older! (Surprised you noticed that) and might be a bit of a personality thing, since they seem to respect me in other things and a tad grouchy, direct too.
The only thing I'd worry about is that you may end up trading power moves with them being none the wiser.
I agree, I was going to use it only as a last resort if such a situation ever came.
Him: It was great catching up with you, if there is anything for you to tell me, tell me now or hang up.
You: Yeah, no, thanks for saying that, I was actually planning to stay on the line without saying anything for the next 3 hoursThis had me laughing a lot, wow, it neither escalates nor does it ignore it. I don't see how else they could respond to this other than the ones you mentioned.
This is not perfect or "advanced" in any way, but it's "effective enough". You don't need perfection.
And it's simple enough that you can do it in almost any situation.Yes, this was an amazing tool that you provided, simple and effective.
Worst case scenario: you may mumble it in the beginning, you may stumble upon yourself... And it's still great.
Just by doing or saying anything you're "raising the issue" so to speak. That, just by itself, sub-communicates that:
- "you understood the power move"
- "you're not happy with it"
- "you expect a different/more respectful behavior"
That's your 80%,
Thank you for the answer Lucio
This is the type of feedback that makes me -and, in general, people- want to support more.
It's simple social exchange: I give -or at least, put in effort trying to- when giving advice, and I get back with the feedback/acknowledgment.
Both in terms of gratitude which is never to be underestimated as we're (almost) all emotional beings, and in practical terms because I learn a lot about what's useful and not useful, helping both me grow and improve, and also improving TPM and PU.
Thank you for that Maverick, and a great example for the forum as well.

Quote from John Freeman on December 25, 2022, 9:06 amI know there are clarifications pending. However, that's all they are: clarifications for better communication. This is a great community, it's totally normal to have frictions and misunderstandings. They are potholes to better communication and relationships! No journey is without detours and hiccups.
So I'm taking this opportunity to sincerely wish you all a merry Christmas/happy holiday season with your families from the bottom of my heart! :)
I'm sure you understand that in my writing above there is gratitude inside as well. If not clear enough:
Thank you very much all! :) Ho ho ho

Quote from Kavalier on January 2, 2023, 9:17 pmHello, TPM!
2022 was such an intense year: I evolved a lot, improved a lot, took important risks in my own life (and soon I'll reap the benefits!), made good friends, cut contact with people I needed to cut, made amends, learned important skills, got very angry and very sad, felt really happy, enjoyed life. In all of this, TPM contributed directly and indirectly so many times.
I had many great exchanges here with everybody. In alphabetical order, I'd like to say a special thank you to Alex, Ali, Anon, Bel, Emily, Growfast, John, Kellvo, Leader of Fun, Lucio, Mats G, Matthew (miss you, man), Maverick, Maya, Transitioned
I want to include a very special thank you to Lucio, because reading here that he was glad when I flagged a power move makes me smile. At the time those misunderstandings took place, I was a very new and hesitant member in the forum, and had no idea how such a move would have been received. I also received important feedback on how to calibrate when addressing powe moves. It feels awesome to receive words like these from someone I respect and admire, and from whom I have been learning so much!
A very merry 2023 for all of us in TPM!

Quote from John Freeman on January 6, 2023, 12:41 pmYou're more than welcome!
It's funny you say that and I know it's going to sound "me too": I felt something similar this morning in me, like a very old weight getting lifted.

Thank you Lucio for your acknowledgment, feed-back (in particular on taking things personnally) and trust.
Thank you Ali for your feed-back, recommendations and trust.
Kavalier: I already thanked you, I will add: thank you for your trust.
Many many lessons for me. My promise in the other thread still stand.
