TPM YouTube channel feedback: what do you think?

PreviousPage 4 of 4

I think it is simply awesome.

Personally, I prefer the frontal shots more than the lateral ones, with the exception of the last seconds where you talk into the camera laterally, which is awesome.

Also, when you say "good men" but the writing reads "good man", there is a slight risk of people thinking it may be a spelling mistake. Same with "bad men/bad man".

Finally, the "quotes" gestures are also a bit "unprofessional" to me, and I would try to experiment without them.

But these are really irrelevant details in the context of an awesome, awesome video.

I watched it twice cause I liked it so much :)

BOOM!

Thank you so much, Bel!

I agree with you on the frontal shots being better.
I think the editor likes to mix them up to keep it fresh and engaging (and increase viewers' retention), which I also agree is important
But thanks to your feedback I'll make a note for him to keep the lateral ones shorter, so maybe that gets the best of both worlds.

Just awesome, congratulations!

I agree with Ali. The one thing that I would change is the background. I feel it does not fit your “vibe”. It feels like you’re not at home. (And yes I also thought about a grandma’s house).

I think you can choose any environment. Even nature. I think it does not matter. The thing that does matter I think is that it’s a place where you feel at home. Like it’s your territory or a place where you feel good.

I understand that probably you want to normalize and maybe remove a bit of the “Scarface/godfather” or even seducer vibe (the drawing you had in the back maybe). If that’s the case I totally see it. I think Ali’s suggestion of using the same “wealthy/powerful” background is a great idea. I’m thinking about the library in Dublin or any old library. Woods and golds are good. But you could go more modern as well. I said nature to expand the horizons. However the topics are 100% human topics so I think a house or a city environment is more congruent with the topic. As you did.

The body language I think is on point. I get what Bel is saying I think it’s personal. It did not shock me but it’s worth trying without it or maybe saying “quote unquote”. Don’t know: to be tested.

Regarding the details what I noticed is that when there is editing of the eagles there are 3 images of eagles flashing. It is a bit bothering to me. I would use one with a slow pan out for instance. Or just less images so it’s less flashing. The images are all well fitting with the theme of “old wisdom”: images of 18th-19th century books. So I would keep them. It’s personal and people could be fine with this. It’s a small thing and does not have an effect on the whole video itself.

One last thing that I’m 100% sure you already thought about: the length. I think it’s really difficult to make it shorter. So I think it’s fine like this. You explain the key concepts so I don’t feel like a concept could be dropped. Maybe the “bad man” concept. Difficult to tell.

So I would say for an intro video it’s a bit long but I would not see what to shorten or remove. I would not hasten the speech neither. So I think it all depends where it stands. If it’s on the TPM website or PU totally fine. On YouTube I’m not sure people would watch it in its entirety.

I think with the current video you’re 80-90% there, with changing the background you get to the 90-95%. The rest are more details to me.

Re-reading Ali’s post: yes I would also stick to the ancient wisdom/knowledge aspect.

Thank you so much, John!

Actually, you were the first to mention some years ago video to introduce TPM and place it on the "Start Here" page and I took note of that since then.
So thank you for that idea (I remember back then you mentioned a background in "Michael Franzese style", and I also thought it was a great idea)!

And yes, I wanted this video to be a larger appeal and more "neutral" because it should introduce the main themes.
So the way I saw it, it shouldn't represent me, but more TPM -the Augustus cover in the back should represent the image of the pinnacle of self-development in leadership-.

As for the eagles flashing too quickly: great point.
I had originally thought to just add TPM's logo as the last image, but onw I'm thinking that just one single image as you say is best.

P.S.:

If anyone else thinks it may be a good idea to cut out the part explaining "bad men", do let me know.

Yes I remember now. :)

Thanks for your consideration!

Regarding the logo: it is quite modern smooth and shiny. So it contrasts a lot with the rest. I know you are working on a new logo right. It’s a detail of course: a logo that would be more “earthy”, more “woody” or more “ancient” looking would fit more.

But then it’s a headache as well if you have 2 images: ancient wisdom vs cutting-edge ideas. So I do agree with Ali that there is a dichotomy there. Is it important? I don’t know but visually these are 2 different themes. One could also just appreciate the contrast and see that the video is one of a kind and that the general theme is modern. These are also things that have to be tested. One cannot always think in a vacuum. Users have the last word I think.

PS: don’t want to hijack your question above hence the PS to make sure.
