TPM YouTube channel feedback: what do you think?
Quote from John Freeman on July 25, 2023, 8:49 pmHello Lucio,
some feed-back on your recent youtube videos.
Shorts: they are just awesome. Nothing to add. More please. The last one with friends is pure dynamite. I liked the humour as well. I think it probably is something that you can use with the contrast principle: "naive self-help says..." and go as far as ridicule it like you did in other videos if I remember well. The thing is that the more contrast or extreme you go, the more the risk to attract followers that are more the fanatical type rather than the rational type. People looking for someone to follow rather than new ideas and concepts they're looking for.
Videos: I think they generally are of better quality in the sense they're more fluid and more impactful. That is they have a lot of "woompfh" and I like it (Tate, Prigozhin, Tucker&Tate).
Probably it also has to do speaking with both more enthusiasm and conviction. I like the calm even tone but more fluctuation is also good.
Regarding the format like CoC: "7 ways to...": On my side it's one of the rare recent videos that I did not watch in its entirety. I watched just the beginning. It's good I have no complaint about the video itself. It's the reason I don't watch CoC videos anymore: just the conclusion and even rarely. Personally I don't like these lists kind of videos. It was popular for a time as it triggers our curiosity. However, my nervous system got fatigued of it and now it's more of a drag when I see this kind of format.
For instance CoC videos qualities are good and the content is of great quality. Great analysis. But I want the meat. If the meat requires some explaining, I'm all for it. But if I just have to read the list then it's not as appealing. That's why I don't watch them anymore. Also the content of their videos looks like it's usable but in the end it's not. It's entertainment (to me). So the videos with Prigozhin, etc. are more like "aha", like mind-opening. I think this has more value: new perspectives and ideas.
It's a note for you keeping in mind that I'm probably in the minority as the video has 1.2k views in a week. So it does appeal to people. Probably the format "7... " is still appealing to people. Maybe the topic is appealing (it always is for guys). Maybe it also benefited from the "copycat effect" or from the star being on the thumbnail I don't know.
Anyway I thought my feed-back could be of interest to you.

Awesome, awesome feedback John, thank you so much!
Agree with you those Charisma on Command style feel like they've done their time.
And also agree they feel like they got practical info, but ultimately add little value. They do seem so far to bring in some more views.
So the goal is to make them more valuable with more of the "power wisdom". So hopefully at least in some of them there may be some good takeaways (towards the end there was a good example of executing tasks high power VS just having an empty rank, for example).I'm now trying and testing several different formats -including some humorous movie quotes where I hired a voice impersonator to then say "subscribe and check PU" in the end just not to leave any stone unturned-.
Maybe also add some longer format videos of me talking more freely.
And then we'll see in the end what brings the most value.

Cool.
I'm thinking even simpler/better is if you'd like to make:
- Your own analysis of a character / exchange / case study
- Own video sharing a relevant experience / story. I'm thinking for example "how acquiring power awareness and skills affected me"
And then you can also bridge to how you're now applying that to networking.

Quote from John Freeman on July 26, 2023, 12:15 amOne I find very good in your shorts is this structure :
- Common misconception/idea... BUT....
- Examples & explanation
- Impactful conclusion with a Summary (like short sentence): "You have to demand respect people don't give it to you". "Become an attractive man ..."
This is a great structure and the on-screen drawings are great with the rhythm, size and color. This works quite well.
So the goal is to make them more valuable with more of the "power wisdom". So hopefully at least in some of them there may be some good takeaways (towards the end there was a good example of executing tasks high power VS just having an empty rank, for example).
Definitely.
Logo at the beginning is fire. I think it could stay 1 more sec that would not hurt but I think it's fine like now. The voice-over for the subscription probably will improve the overall quality of the video.
Yes, gotta test the formats to see what works. Like your idea of longer talk.

Or, we could even try one of those book review ideas you had for TikTok but try it as a YouTube Short.
I think all three ideas are great, so up to you :).

Quote from Lucio Buffalmano on July 26, 2023, 11:57 amYeah, that could also work.
Only con or limitation would be that reviews don't seem to be what people are mostly interested n.
Ultimately, if you'd like to, I'd say it's what you'd like to do best, among:
- Case study of whichever interaction struck you (that one you published on the political candidate under pressure could be a good one)
- Analysis of an individual / character
- Own video sharing a relevant experience / story (example: "how acquiring power awareness and skills affected me")
- Review of book / course / author, or even a whole field where you rank your favorite resources
The case study and analysis you can do the voice over and I'd have it edited (to make sure the editor gets it "roughtly right" the first time out, I usually write down the script in one column, and add some references on a second column such as video with time stamps, images that should be there, etc.).
Own videos and reviews could be just you filming yourself in front of a camera.

Quote from Lucio Buffalmano on September 5, 2023, 8:34 pmHi all,
This is meant to be TPM's new YB intro video.
The idea is to provide an overview of what TPM stands for, and what it can do for the audience.
https://youtu.be/cpSh85ahIoU
My first thoughts:
- Replace editor's eagles with TPM's logo (the eagles at the very least)
- The angle shot with the door sucks, but not sure I can do much about it now
- The flower sucks (should have been a sculpture there, did that for the "Start Here" video after this)
If you have any feedback or criticism, do let me know.
Especially for the images/editing.

Quote from Ali Scarlett on September 5, 2023, 8:51 pmHi Lucio,
Loving the intro!
The editing style, the camera angles, it all screams professional, and "TPM is moving forward" to me.
A brutal critique here, when I first saw the background, man, I thought to myself, "That looks like it could be my grandma's house, I wish it was more modern."
However, I think it was the plant in the corner and the choice of lamp that gave it this effect for me. (And, heck, maybe it's my design brain too, so happy if people disagree with my opinion :).
The other design elements seem antique which gives a feeling of "classic wisdom" to me. I really like it and it certainly grew on me very fast.
With that said, going too far on the antique side can evoke a small unconscious feeling of "the room is outdated, so maybe some of the information/wisdom is too." (Pointing back to Kolenda's research, "Visual design reinforces conceptual design.")
So, I think balancing the modern with the classic could have a great psychological effect.
For example, you could replace the plant in the corner with a black TPM mug.
And for the lamp, something with a simpler antique design, like this:
This way, you take a spot that looks like it was a forgotten room in 19th-century Italy and turn it into a study for Bruce Wayne:

Thank you so much, Ali!
Golden, golden feedback.
And totally agree with the plant, don't know what I was thinking, it was already on top of the table and I didn't move (face-palm emoji :).
There is another video after this with similar content for the "Start Here" page and if I remember well -I hope so- the plant is gone.
The video for the website is a bit longer since I purpusefully wanted to keep the YB one shorter. But if that second one is much better I might use that as a base.
Otherwise, it may be also possible to re-shoot.If you or anyone else has any further feedback, do let me know.
Especially useful for the images/editing, since that's the easiest to fix without reshooting.
