Hello + Updates (What I'm Doing, Where & Why)
Quote from Guest on January 10, 2020, 11:55 amI found your website by searching blinkist reviews after downloading the app. Whilst I agree with some of the other commentary regarding your professionalism and formatting, your content is extremely engaging. Personally I love the way you have not only summarised popular books but also provided videos to further embed the concepts with real life examples. Furthermore the summary of pros and cons is perhaps the most valuable. I am excited that I’ve just discovered your website and look forward to reading more.

Thank you Sarah!
Do you have more details on that "professionalism" part?
I'd be curious to hear your thoughts.

Quote from Guest on January 10, 2020, 11:45 pmHi there
sorry if I wasn’t clear with my feedback.
By professionalism I meant the aesthetics of the website. If the content was dressed up and available in app form I’d be quite likely to pay for a subscription.

Quote from Guest on January 12, 2020, 7:10 pmIf it were professional that it'd be just like Blinkist or any other corporate service, without real personal touch.
So from this reader: don't trade professionalism for honesty.

Quote from linhauwei on January 13, 2020, 9:24 amHi, Lucio I think it would be more convenient to add a search engine to the reading-list. Sometimes we need to look for each category when we want to find a particular book. In addition, searching for similar books by keyword can be very helpful.

BTW, just to clarify: this website has not the same business model as Blinkist.
It might overlap a bit because ThePowerMoves offers a subscription, but most people are subscribing for the articles, not the summaries.
And even when it comes to just book summaries and reviews, I don't think we're even addressing the same people. And just to be precise: I also no beef with Blinkist or any other similar services.
I just don't think it's a very useful system to learn life-relevant skills, and that's why my review was negative. Other than that, I'm cool with them.Quote from linhauwei on January 13, 2020, 9:24 amHi, Lucio I think it would be more convenient to add a search engine to the reading-list. Did you try the current sorting system (picture below)
It's not very helpful?
I was very excited about this one, but I have noticed indeed it might not have been a great success.
Judging by shares, it's been shared and liked a mere 10 times on Reddit.
Compared with 166 for the book reviews page and 235 for the book summaries page. Both static pages.
And especially the summary page, in my original opinion, was almost useless.I might have to re-evaluate...

Quote from Lucio Buffalmano on January 17, 2020, 3:48 amUpdate on that "build your reading list page": I asked for feedback to the subscribers, and almost all answers were very positive about it (and all were super helpful by the way, thank you so much!).
So it will stay.
I even added one more field for "search".
So even if one book or one author is just mentioned but not (yet) fully reviewed, it will show up.It works like for Google, for perfect matches just write within quotation makks ("").
I got this idea thanks to the feedback of one subscriber who very well explained how he is currently searching for books and what his pain points were (not mentioning your name in public, but thank you again! :).

Quote from Lucio Buffalmano on January 25, 2020, 10:17 amI'm going through a few of those places Trump would have defined "shitholes".
Some of them are beautiful though.
I got (very) poor connection here so I'll be off grid a few days.
