Quote from Transitioned on January 4, 2022, 9:34 pmI would be honoured. As long as @lucio doesn't matter nd this one taking a while to develop. I m PMing on a big program this year. Yea I know, same, same but the rates nice on this one and there's lots to learn.
We can work out commercials whenever it's worked for Lucio and Ali so I m confident. Maybe a subdomain under business university or whatever.
What I always did have in mind for this was it becoming interactive training. Both from the commercial aspects and being able to help people.
Commercially the problem with books is they are easily pirated these days.
And as Lucio has often pointed out the difficult part of learning PD is getting the 'feel'.
So the *****s who steal your book aren't actually doing themselves any favours.
Making it interactive helps with both those challenges.
To do that the case studies would need to be continuing over multiple events and branched to become a bit like a game of chess.
What I have been wondering is if plain old PowerPoint might give us at least a good start as an authoring tool and possibly as a presentation layer. My thinking is that even if it doesn't work out for directly hosting on the tpm website we would have working content that a dev could lift n shift.
I know that there are WordPress plugins to host powerpoints.
PPTs can have interactive hotspots so that gets us our branching.
I know I can produce voice overs using narakeet in PowerPoint
What I don't know is how easy it is for WordPress to present it through a player or some other mechanism to make sure you can't just download the PowerPoint.

Quote from Lucio Buffalmano on January 5, 2022, 5:19 amFair point about:
- Pirating
- Being more useful as an interactive tool
I also prefer the second option and it's certainly possible to host it somewhere else.
How viable it would be financially would probably also depend on the costs of the whole thing. In any case, I'm also confident we can easily find a way to agree on the commercial terms.
So how about we leave it open for now and come back to it when have a clearer idea of what are the possible options / costs.

Quote from Transitioned on January 5, 2022, 10:33 pmSounds good I m still well behind on my case studies. So I think it's keep going, eat my brocoli before dessert. I think 20 to 25 case studies is probably minimum to cover the usual project shenanigans.
Got 12 once I ve got to 15 I will narakeet one so you can see if there s any potential that way. I was thinking you could put it in BU as a beta feature to excuse the lack of polish/avoid Dev costs. TBH I don't know anything about commercial educational sites. So I don't know if beta features would work here or it's not worth the potential damage to the brand.
The examples are there anyway right now on the forum. So in the meantime @lucio it's your site your content so if you think there s a quick marketing win in an ebook or a BU lesson great.

Absolutely agree with everything you said there, Lucio. (And, yes, what you said makes sense, thanks for clearing it up :).
Looking forward to continuing to exchange ideas with you all.
I'm glad it helped!

Quote from John Freeman on January 22, 2022, 4:13 pmI want to thank @lucio for introducing me to machiavellianism.
I love it!
I was very naive regarding this aspect of human nature.
You helped me to discover the power of positive Machiavellianism.
I now understand now much better how other people are operating.
I am also seeing now that being a student of power dynamics I can surpass the people who learned this intuitively.
I can now see that by continuing to study it and applying it in 5-10 years I will be much more powerful.
So thank you very much!
Cheers!

Quote from Lucio Buffalmano on January 22, 2022, 7:26 pmThank you, John!
I appreciate you leaving a comment on that.
And I fully agree with you on both counts.
Machiavellianism is a core competency to succeed in a complex civilization like the one we humans live in, and it can be positive and value-adding as well.
So the (undeserved) bad rap that "Machiavellianism" got actually only helps the true ruthless value-taker since a good chunk of the more value-adding folks will "stay away" from anything that "seems" Machiavellian.
And it isn't just a theory.
Interestingly enough, of the (few) refunds this website gets, f those who provide a reason, I can remember several who said that the material was "too Machiavellian" for them.To one I said, "are you sure? The lesson on Machiavellianism hasn't even come up yet and that's foundational". And he replied that "the Machiavellianism was exactly the problem he had with the course"
And I thought "damn, this guy was exactly the type of person who had to stick through it, both for himself, and for everyone else around him".
Thank you, John!

Quote from John Freeman on January 22, 2022, 10:32 pmI understand!
Another thing I want to thank you for is:
”Be too good to be fucked with”
I don’t know if you remember: I had challenges with a group of toxic nurses in a pediatric emergency service.
Now that I made progress both in the social, in power and in Pediatrics they cannot fuck with me. I’m back there one day a week and even though they try things I find ways to get around it or at least to minimize the disempowerment.
I’m sure it might happen again but I could see the difference.
Once again it’s all about skills.
I also make sure to make friends not enemies.

Quote from Transitioned on January 22, 2022, 11:33 pmAnd thank you John too for sharing some of the situations that come up in your work. The work culture in Australia seems very similar to yours. Probably because we both work in large organisations. You've come up with a few power moves that I haven't seen YET 😁

Quote from Lucio Buffalmano on January 23, 2022, 7:49 amThank you John, and I echo the same sentiment as Kevin, thank you for bringing up these case studies and working on the solution collaboratively.
They have provided immense value to make the product(s) and forum/community better, and to advance the discipline of power dynamics / advanced social skills / social strategies.
